The Road to Happiness
When you first turn 16 the only thing you dream about is your first car and the freedom of having your license. We think of driving as this new reward and quirky experience never held within our lives. However, even though when driving is imagined it acts as a benefit to yourself it can be stripped away in the seconds. In reality, the only way to truly enjoy driving is if you are safe and secure on the road and feel you have enough knowledge to take on the diverse world of traffic. Happiness on the road has the inability to occur if you are not safe and capable of stopping the level of death.
People know that the odds of dying on the road are pretty high. However, driving turns into a habit and part of routine that it is never taken seriously. A lot of people get into their car and drive to their destination without ever realizing that they are in a dangerous situation. People are always hinted at the idea that a crash or collision could cause death on the road, but it is never truly considered. Being educated in the many ways death occurs on the road and how these traumatic events can be prevented leave people with lingering thoughts. When people have had lessons and hear about possibilities constantly it causes them to never truly forget what driving is actually about. Being more wise on the road and having the maturity to accept its fate gives people the opportunity to actually understand the serious consequences driving can have. Being educated will never stop death on the road, but it will leave people more understanding and aware of ways they can get around death on the road.
Death on the road is inevitable, but there are personalized techniques you can utilize as a driver that will make the possibility far less. Always practice the basic skills of driving by wearing a seatbelt, keeping the volume at a minimum, limiting your passengers, and driving in safe conditions. Even though these are basic tips, they are what have kept people safe on the road for the longest time and come in handy in any situation on the road. Make sure before you start driving alone or with friends that you have had enough practice where you feel confident controlling your car and maintaining safe conditions for others on the road. Driving without a parent for the first time is a whole different story and it is best if you feel that you are capable. It is also best to develop the best attitude while driving and focusing on how you feel on the road. As the driver, you are in complete control of your car and it is important you have the ability to do so. Be aware of your mental and physical state while hopping in a car because that can make or break a drive.
I have never personally been in a car accident and I do not participate in any reckless driving. Ever since I got my license, I have felt it is in my best interest to be safe on the road and do my best to never have a poor experience while driving. I of course know of a few people who have been in car accidents, but luckily none of them have ever been injured or killed. I have found that those people learn their lesson very quickly and come to the conclusion that driving is a privilege that no person wants withdrawn. Having had my license for a year and a half now, I have seen that teenagers and young adults are the worst on the road because they find it entertaining to go out of control. They will one day turn into an adult on the road who sees it as a time to be safe and have the desire to keep everyone safe. The view of driving is different depending on the age you are at, but preventing death while on the road should always be the number one priority.
I have found that even though I have not been in any accidents or have experienced any real damage on the road, my driving is imperfect and there is always work that needs to be done. I think I have to remember that no matter how confident I get on the road, I have to remember that I am still in control of my car, self, and passengers. Driving will forever seem like a dream, but I have to make sure that I let reality kick in so I realize that I have to stay safe and lead with one foot forward. I just want all teenagers to realize that even though driving is fun and a unique experience, it should never be taken for granted. You never really know what could happen on the road and it is best to always be aware of your surroundings. The skill is not being able to drive, but rather keeping yourself safe on the road.
You never truly know what could happen within the next second of driving. This is a world that is unknown and no real answer can ever be given. Death is not something that should ever be taken lightly, especially when in a motor vehicle. Driver education is something every person is forced to do when they gain their license, but it should always be provided. This is a form of learning that every person should be an expert on and it is the key to less loss on the road. The road to happiness can only be fully embraced when you are proud of the way you drove yourself there.
