Importance
of Distracted Driving

The
importance of drivers ed is very important to the safety of
drivers worldwide. Drivers ed shows videos and images of
tragic deaths and injuries due to distracted driving. There is a
simple answer to this question… DON’T DRIVE DISTRACTED OR UNDER THE
INFLUENCE! I have been involved in a distracted driving accident, but
nothing comes close to the day one of my best friends was involved in
a horrible accident. It was weekend night around 2:00 am when I was
leaving a party with a group of friends, my phone was ringing so I
decided to answer it without question. It was another friend of mine
who had been out driving around aimlessly. It didn’t take a genius to
tell he was under the influence of alcohol and THC which is known as
being “crossed”. So the group of friends in the car with me
all told him to pullover and wait there so we could safely bring him
home. He didn’t listen and continued to drive. When all of a sudden
we herd a “boom” sound and hazard lights began to sound. As
we began yelling his name through the phone it became apparent that
he had crashed. As we yelled and screamed we were not met with a
response which made us all uneasy. We began to track down his
location and once we did we got to the scene as fast as humanly
possible(while still following basic traffic laws). When we arrived
to the scene we all turned ghostly with a horrible sickness in our
stomach. At this point we had assumed he was dead. Ambulances and
police cars were swarmed at the site of the accident, and as we got
closer we saw his car flipped sideways. The truck he was driving had
barrel rolled several times and was badly damaged. We ran to the
ambulance to see if he was alive… he was. Suddenly we became less
ghostly and were happy our friend had survived. It was a miracle. The
moral of the story is to ALWAYS drive safe, you never know when your
last day is. Only you can prevent distracted driving, so be smart
about your life choices.
