Driving Safely: How You Can Help Yourself and Others Driver Better

Driver’s education is extremely important in reducing the deaths that result from driving. It acts as a sort of filter, making sure that new driver’s both know the rules of the road and learn the skills necessary to safely drive. One must earn a score high enough to pass a written quiz, and they must drive well enough for the instructor to deem them a safe enough driver to get their permit. These steps are essential to ensuring that a new driver doesn’t begin driving without the fundamental rules and skills that they need.

Mandatory driver’s education is one step that can be taken to reduce automotive related deaths. Other steps include the already implemented learner’s permit stage of driving, parents being involved in their teenager’s learning stage of driving, and parents teaching their children good driving skills early by driving well themselves. All of these can help new drivers avoid accidents. One way that deaths can be reduced across all ages is increased safety in vehicles. Automobile manufacturers have been improving the safety of their vehicles for years and they continue to do so.

I have seen my father drive irresponsibly many times. Speeding, taking sharp curves scarily fast, going into the opposite side of the road. All of this has taught me the things that I should absolutely not do while driving. I have also rode with friends that were driving irresponsibly, and I advise them against whatever they are doing that’s irresponsible.

I can become a better and safer driver by driving and practicing. Practicing something almost always makes someone better at it, and with driving one becomes far more comfortable with the rules of the road and the handling of their vehicle. I can also be better driver by always keeping the rules of the road in the front of my mind. I can make sure that I am not speeding and that I take blind curves at an appropriate speed. I can help others be safe while driving by being a less annoying backseat driver. If someone I’m riding with is driving recklessly, I can tell them to slow down or keep their eyes on the road. I have seen people die from not paying attention to the road, and it’s something that can happen very easily.
