Distracted driving
As phones became addictive to teenagers and are virtual devices, we use daily, they negatively impacted our ability to drive safely. Divers who are distracted with their phones, whether receiving or sending a text, are at high risk for car crashes where some could be deadly. To solve this issue, the driver’s education program had integrated a full lesson on the importance of avoiding texting and driving. However, as many teenagers acquire resistance characteristics, they tend to ignore the laws and text and drive. Thus, causing an increase in car crashes accidents.
The issue of distracted driving can be solved with the educational driving programs as it teaches and instructs new drivers on how to obey signs, drive safe, and react in case of an emergency. As a result, this program positively impacts student drivers as it warns against distracted driving and demonstrates the state rules and laws regarding operating a vehicle. Likewise, as new drivers become more knowledgeable about this issue and avoid it, the car crashes related to death cases can decrease.
A better way to help reduce car crashes death incidents is to implement an app that locks the person’s phone as they start operating a vehicle. Likewise, this problem can be reduced by spreading awareness of driving safe. Another way to reduce death related car accidents is to enforces more punishments for texting and driving as well as driving under the influence of substance.
I have lost my best friend to a car accident as he was driving on the highway and was hit by a drunk wrong-way truck driver who took away my best friend’s life. A young soul of only 17 years old, full of dreams, ambitions, and plans for futures, was taken away in a second. He left his family in grieve and sorrow along with his crying friends as we said goodbye to him. A young flower that was cut from its roots before it blossomed. Due to an irresponsible drunk driver who decided to drive under the influence of alcohol, he suppressed his ability to focus and operate a truck.
To be a better and safer driver, I do not use my phone while driving, as it can be a source of distraction that can cause a car accident in a split of a second. Likewise, I have never drunk before or drove under the influence of substance as they can compromise my vision, attention, and ability to drive. I care about my safety as well as the safety of others. I also make sure to leave a space between my car and the car in front of me to avoid any indentation. However, to help others such as my friends, families, and other people become safe drivers, I do not let them drive under any circumstances if I know they are under the influence of drugs or other substances. Furthermore, I also advise my friends to stop using their phones, texting, calling, or changing songs in the car with them. As one second or one word, text can be all it takes for a crash to take place.
