Keeping it safe behind-the-wheel.

Keeping it safe behind the wheel.

The importance of driver education is apparent in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving. Education plays a vital part in making progressive action, Auto accidents occur everyday because of negligence at the wheel. Obeying traffic laws, not texting and driving, avoiding driving when not rested, and not driving under the influence are all important steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving. To get these steps to work we need to educate our neighbors and youth about the dangers that could happen behind the wheel when driving. My junior year of high school I got into a car accident with my friend. We got out of school and were leaving the parking lot when my friend made a sharp left turn and made the car drift. They thought the way the car drifted was cool and wanted to try it again, so on the next left turn he did the same thing and the car began to drift faster than he expected it to. He tried to correct the turn by turning the steering wheel but it just made the car drift in the other direction. The car finally stopped when the back end hit a tree, The steps that I now take to ensure my safety when driving are taking time with my turns to avoid drifting and to keep my phone in the cup holder so it’s not a distraction, When promoting driver safety to family and friends I stress the importance of not driving under the influence, telling them to stop using their phones to text or social media, and to just keep driving a distraction free time.
