Unsafe driving
The importance of drivers education in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving are very important because the more drivers know about the death rates and how dangerous distracted driving can be could open their eyes to the danger of it. If more people were educated about how many people lose their lives every year to unsafe driving it would change the way, we all drive. If more people took driving more seriously and were more educated drivers about what is right and wrong on the road, we would most likely have far less accidents. I think that if people understood why we have speed limits and why we have all the driving rules we had they might take it all more seriously. Sadly, most people might need to experience an accident to truly see the dangers of driving because without people seeing the affects firsthand, they might think “that could never happen to me”.
Steps that I think can be taken to reduce the numbers of deaths while driving is having more police officers monitoring the speed limit or have radars that do it for them. When I am out driving, I do not see officers on the roads very often who are watching for speeding. It is not that I never do I just do not see them as often as I think I should. I also think that there should be more consequences for speeding rather then a small ticket. I think that there should also be more ways to monitor texting while driving. It is a huge distraction and I know so many people do it not understanding how dangerous it really is. I also think it might be helpful to make drivers test more complex. When I took my drivers test it was not very hard and I think for a 16-year-old to be driving the requirements should be a little more complex.
I thankfully have never been in a car accident, but I have seen a lot of unsafe driving in my life. Ever since I got my license, I now notice how bad some people speed and I often drive by people texting on their phones. I see people speed ridiculously over the speed limit I truly do not think that every single person has a good reason for it. Before I was a driver I didn’t realize how bad some drivers are and how carefree some are but now that I can drive and I understand it better it is ridiculous how little some people care and try.
I think that I could become a better safer driver by watching my speed more too. I do not ever catch myself speeding too awfully bad, but I do speed sometimes and I need to be more careful of it. I think that I could have others be more responsible drivers by educating others of how often people lose their lives to unsafe driving. I think everyone knows that driving can be dangerous, but I doubt everyone knows that more people die in car accidents each year then die in war. That is a crazy and scary fact that should open a lot of eyes to unsafe drivers.
