Safety is Key

I have been a young driver since October of 2019. Throughout that period of time I have learned many different skills that has helped me with driving safely. Due to the fact that I live in WNY, it is known that there can be quite a bit of snow on the roads. The best way to make sure you and everyone else is safe is to be cautious. Make sure to check your surrounding for deer and anything else that may pop up in front of you while driving. Another thing to be watchful of is the speed you is going. Normally you would not want to speed anyways, but when there is snow on the ground you have to be extra careful. Going to fast and then braking suddenly can cause the car to slip on the roads. This can cause damage to you, the car, and anyone or anything that was near the crash. Snow plows are also a big this to watch out for. There big size can cause some problems while on the road so if need be pull over and let them pass peacefully.

Now driving in the winter can be very dangerous but driving in general can be a scary thing if you don’t know what you are doing. Problems like texting and driving are a big issue as of today. Everyone has a cellphone nowadays. To the newer generation of driver’s phones are a big part of their lifestyle. The need to constantly be checking their phone itches at their skin. No matter how badly you need to take a call or message your mom, nothing is more important then your safety. Being on your phone while driving cause a split second where you are not paying attention to the road. This could be deadly not only to you but to pedestrians and other drivers. Much like the effects of drinking it can slow down your reaction time as well. So, it’s better to

make the safe choice and pay attention to the road. The safety of others and yourself lays in the hands of the driver.

Another problem faced by drivers is drinking and driving or even the use of drugs. Now this is a very basic thing to know that every person has heard quite a bit in their life. The safest thing to do if you drink is to simple not drive at all. Have a close friend or family member pick you up, one of coarse that has not been drinking themselves. There are also many different online services that would be able to get you to your destination, such as uber or a local taxi service. If you could avoid drinking in general it would make you circumstances safer. Drinking and the use of drugs can slow down your reaction time. This can cause a split second of panic or a second where the vehicle can drive off the road. So, the smartest choice if you decide to drive to to have a contact available to drive you safely.

Driving is a big responsibility. The choices you decide to make affect both you and those around you as well. One wrong move could possibly end with someone in the hospital.
