2021 Drivers Ed Essay

Driving, without a doubt, is a very dangerous thing to do. As a person is on the road, many different aspects, and distractions, are presented while behind the wheel. Throughout the years, the deaths behind the wheel have increased tremendously due to reckless driving. However, as a whole, the community can come together and make driving as safe as it can be, while taking proper precautions while driving and when teaching about driving, so that I and many others can continue to live a great life.

Sadly, nowadays the driving deaths have immensely increased on the road that the deaths are even higher than those in the Vietnam War. However, even before getting on the road, drivers should be responsible to make sure what to do on it and a driver class would really help. In Driver Education, soon to be teen drivers are taught about the dangers the road represents along with the proper ways to drive responsibly. While in a drivers ed class, the instructor should potentially be teaching the pre-drivers about the proper turn signals, the proper names for the signs on the road and what to do while on the road and who has the right of way. These are not the only factors represented in the road of course, however, the Drivers Education Program plays a great role in safe driving. Reason being, is that before even getting on the road it is the full responsibility of the student to fully understand the road with the teaching done by the instructor. With what the student has learned they should be able to accurately determine what to do and what not to do behind the wheel. Even then, after the Drivers-Ed class teaches the student everything of their knowledge, there is also a huge responsibility at home for parents. Therefore, after the instructions of their instructors, the student’s parents should be seeing if their teen driver, or even themselves, are being safe on the road. There is no telling whether or not the roads will ever be safe, but with the help of communication, not speeding, and doing the legal things required, there could be a significant change in the death rates of driving by decreasing them.

As a teen, soon to be an adult, myself and many others around me can make a change with taking the right precautions after the Drivers Education class. Of course, getting our drivers license has an amazing feeling of accomplishment, and the first thing a person would want to do is to go out with friends. However, if someone gets their license under the age of 18, of course there are restrictions. With that, I tend to follow the restrictions and drive from home to school everyday, but of course, I am not the perfect driver, therefore, I do go to other places with my mother in the car at times, or even my brother. Like mentioned before, the road is a dangerous place, so without a doubt I, myself have come to close calls while driving. Many times would be whenever I am driving and many other drivers tend to pull out onto the highway whenever they believe they have enough space to proceed, and then I as a driver would have to quickly slow down or there would be an accident. This experience would relate back to that all drivers on the road should be responsible and well aware of their surroundings, even if it’s not their responsibility for other people. Steps for myself to take to make the road safer, are many. For example, I am able to be fully aware of my surroundings, because like any other driver, I will zone out sometimes. I can also continue to follow the road signs of yield and stop whenever needed to, while continuing to drive at the safe and right speed of the highways. Later on of course, it will not only depend on my but many other factors, many other people on the road to have the same mindset of being safe to see another day.

We all know there are many things that are very unpredictable, and being on the road is one of them. There is no guarantee that it will ever be fully, and entirely safe for every person out there, but there are always steps to begin that process. To reduce the number of death rates and to increase the number of safe drivers, we all must take part in this together.
