The
blood-curdling screams of a terrified parent as they see their child,
a teenager, sit in the front seat of a vehicle, with a metal bar
penetrating the windshield; or a friend
s
mournful moans and screams as they realize that their lifelong friend
has been killed by an intoxicated driver in a head-on collision. How
would you feel, if someone, who was close to you, suddenly
disappeared into the veil of death because of a quick motor vehicle
accident? Would you cry out? Would you be angry? Would you want
revenge? More importantly, would you want to change?

According
to multiple resources, the number of deaths on the road is
significant when compared to other deaths. Partly, these automobile
deaths are caused by a lack of driving education and lack of
self-control. Which is why we should have stricter driving education
to reduce the number of deaths as a result of driving. The importance
of drivers ed in reducing the deaths is extremely important,
due to the fact that the majority of drivers who die on the road each
year are teens. Teenagers, whether it is there or the killer
s
fault, die each year in tremendous amounts. Their life is cut short
due to the fact that they, or the one who killed them, have a lack of
drivers ed, making them or the killer, react harshly in terms
of severe stress behind the wheel. Drivers ed would reduce the
number of deaths each year because of the informational value it has
on our day to day lives.

Steps
that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving
is to follow the acronym, D.R.I.V.E. Whereas D, stands for
“don’t
break the law.
By implying remembering
this, you would not be using your phone, always have your seatbelt,
and not break traffic laws by speeding or racing. The R would stand
for
ready,as
in ready to drive. Such as, having your doors locked, seatbelt
initiated, and make sure you have a hands free device ready. The I
would stand for
ignore,which
means, you, as the driver, should ignore all distractions, such as
phones, friends, or anything that is not related to the road. The V
would stand for
visualize,
which would try to instruct you, before even
starting to press the gas, the possible outcomes of your actions.
Finally, the E would stand for
“educate,” by
taking an education course related to driving every five or ten
years.

Personally, I have not ever had
an accident or a friend. Though, I still can say that the steps in
order to be a better and safer driver on the road are to always pay
attention and know what your actions will turn into. By doing this,
you will protect yourself, the potential victim, and your loved ones
from great agony. You do not want to have anyone to break down while
they see your body in an accident, coloring the asphalt crimson.
