“Alley
crash claims life of teen” a story about a girl who lived in
Whitehall, Michigan named Makaila and how her life was affected
because of someone else’s reckless choice. She was just one week
from starting her freshman year of high school, and at the age of
fifteen died in a car accident. She decided to take a trip with her
cousins to Cedar Point before school started and had the time of her
life, but one street from her house, the driver of the vehicle,
Jordyn, her cousin, sped down an alleyway and wrapped his car around
a tree and telephone pole. This accident killed not one but two
teenagers, Makaila and Colton, both who had just barely started
living.

Both
of the teenagers had families who planned on seeing them come home
safely that day but instead they found out the worst news and didn’t
know what had happened. Makaila died instantly but Colton was put
into a coma for months with no change in sight so his family made the
choice to pull the plug. All I can remember from the day is my mom
and stepdad sitting me and my brothers down to talk. They had said I
had lost my sister, my best friend, and I went and laid in our bed
thinking “I just saw her, I just saw her and now I won’t ever
again…” asking myself and God ”How did this happen? Why did
this happen? Why would you let this happen?” I blamed myself for
years and still a part of me does because I had this gut feeling
something was going to happen, and I knew what it was.

He
lost control, hit a tree and then a telephone pole and took two lives
and will have to live with that guilt forever. There should either be
a written test or road test when renewing your license to make sure
everyone is still up to date about the laws set in place. There could
have had a chance at surviving if Makaila was buckled along with
Colton, but the best thing to get out of this is never taking any
risks while driving especially if other lives are at the risk. People
are dying every day from cars and other motor vehicles but we can
stop them with the proper knowledge of safety. People take so many
risks without even realizing it and drivers need to be informed on
the dangers of irresponsible driving. There use to be commercials
about safe driving and you should always wear your seatbelt but know
you don’t even hear ”click it or ticket” anymore and there
needs to be more awareness. Adults are not buckling up so the younger
generation thinks it is okay not to too, but also people don’t know
what speed limits and stop signs are and why they are so important.
Jordyn was speeding down an alley then drove through a stop sign.
