Driving
Safely

As
this world becomes more evolved with technology there tends to be
more distractions for people on the roads and as these distractions
become the everyday norm, more accidents occur. Like everything else
to own a skill one must practice it enough, for research has shown
that a skill is attained until a person has practiced it 10,000
times. So, to become a better driver, practice is the answer, but
this practice has to be done with accordance to the law, safety
regulations, and education.

The law
will always rule the lands, but there has to be constant enforcement
because there will always be rebels amongst us. Another thing to
enforce is safety precautions which can be done by continuously
telling people the safety regulations of the road. The more a person
hears something the better the chances it’ll get stuck in their
brain and they’ll conform to it. As long as someone does it others
will follow suit because humans tend to mimic others. However,
education in driving is one of the biggest problems because of
affordability. To overcome this, people choose to be educated by
their friends and family, so their education is already biased.
Learning from the best is another answer: Germany has one of the most
gruesome driving courses there is in this world, but with it comes
great results. An average of 4 deaths occur per 100,000 people while
in the U.S. the average is 11. Having a great drivers ed is
the number one priority in reducing deaths from driving, yet practice
doesn’t lag far behind. In addition, newer technology has brought
with it cameras that can go at the back of a car and in front of it,
automatic emergency braking systems that reduce collisions, apps on a
phone to eliminate notifications when driving among other things will
lessen the possibility of an accident. However, the ultimate
solution to any problem will be abstinence from it. Public
transportation is cheaper and helps improve the air quality of cities
while also improving its economy, but because owning a car is the
common norm then implementing the previous stated safety features
will be a step to reduce deaths.

All
in all, focusing both eyes on the roads with minimal obstruction on a
person’s peripheral vision will indefinitely help a person stay
safe.
