On The Road To Saving lives
Driving
education is very important in the movement to reduce the number of
deaths as a result of driving. With the lack of drivers ed,
fewer people are aware of the little things that they are doing
incorrectly which could possibly cause someone to lose their life.
Many people think that driving is simply getting behind the wheel and
getting to your destination, but that is not true. When you drive you
not only have to drive for you but also the people around you. In
order to reduce the number of deaths related to driving, I believe
that driving school should be elongated. I believe this because while
it may not take long to learn how to drive, it does take time to
learn how to drive safely. Therefore, instead of a week-long course,
it should be extended to two weeks or maybe even a month if needed.
Personally, I have
never been involved in a car accident, but when my mother was
involved in one it had to be one of the scariest moments in my life.
To know that someone’s life can be taken from them in a split
second because of someone’s reckless driving or lack of driving
education is very scary to think about. As a result of that, I think
there most definitely needs to be more rules and regulations to
enforce in order to get a license. It starts in the classroom. There
needs to be a longer course to take in order to ensure that the
students are really getting the information they need in order to be
a safe driver. Next, there should be a knowledge check and driver’s
test yearly in order to renew your license. This should be
implemented because it is very easy to forget the rules of the road,
so revisiting that information annually will allow drivers to have
these safe driving tips embedded in their brains. Lastly, certain
vehicles should not be permitted to be on the road. Vehicles
sometimes have broken or outdated parts that are not safe for the
road which can overall lead to the death of other drivers. In all,
safe driving is very important, not just for yourself but for other
drivers as well. We all have to drive on the road, so we should all
look out for each other and drive safe.
