Importance of Drivers Education

Driver education is not taken as seriously as it should be. I’ve heard from friends that they’re sick of retaking the test and they should just let them pass but seeing that the instructors don’t just let anyone on the roads gives me a sense of relief. All driving instructors shouldn’t take the test lightly and I think they should make it harder. If you know the majority of the rules you can pass easily but I know it’s essential to know every rule; if you don’t know one rule that rule can cause a life-threatening car crash. Driver’s education informs every student about all the rules and ways to avoid accidents, it shows the consequences of breaking those rules and how it can lead to your death and the ending of other people’s life. It may seem harsh but it a not just something you see on screen it happens every day; one driving mistake kills thousands of people every day. I’ve personally been in a car accident while driving, I still remember the shock of the crash the airbags popping and the smell of smoke everywhere. The car was nearly destroyed completely and I could have died. All because of a driver not paying attention my life could have been ended forever. The state of shock and panic is something no one should go through because even small accidents can cause lifelong injuries because of how cars impact each other. I’ve seen friends’ parents who offer rides pause to go on their phones at red lights or quickly go on their phone to see something while driving, this gives me fear because of how common it is and thousands of people die in accidents caused by going on your phone while driving. If something is that urgent it’s essential to pull over in a safe area and then check because that split second of not paying attention, and being aware of your surroundings can cause huge accidents and death. It’s important to be aware of your surrounding while driving at all times because just noticing one thing can inform you to take action to avoid a life-threatening crash. To become a better driver and help save lives you should never listen or feel pressured by other vehicles. If other vehicles behind you are honking and yelling but you feel it’s not safe to move yet don’t fall to peer pressure because you could end your life with that one mistake. Don’t listen to others and trust yourself and only move when you’re absolutely sure it’s the right move. Experience is the biggest factor in car accidents and it’s essential you have experience before driving somewhere unknown. If you’ve never been in the freeway before go on a ride with someone who often goes on the freeway and watch them and ask for tips. Go on a practice drive with someone who knows their way around the freeway and ask them to guide you, and only when you feel safe enough and confident enough you should drive on the freeway. I think even if you are above 18 you should have to take a driver’s education course too. I know you have to pass the test but you can easily pass if you just know a few of the rules even just hearing about every rule in class and hearing the risks can make you a more knowledgeable and aware driver.
