My change in mentality

When driving there are many risks of death. Everything depends on how you’re driving but even more importantly your knowledge of driving. For other drivers, it also means they have to trust the other drivers on the roads. It’s very important for drivers to have a good knowledge of safe driving. The count of motor vehicle deaths was 42 thousand because of car accidents. We can bring that number down by educating the people with good safe driving classes that would be free to everyone. Techniques on driving like driving in rain or snow even heavy fog.

The number of deaths will always be a thing but we can make it less and we can make it to the point people aren’t scared to drive. The people would need additional teaching in the DMV or their driving course. If new drivers the age of 15-17 are doing parents taught I think it would be a fantastic idea to make the parents liable for any damage or tickets their kids get. I feel like this because if they would’ve taught their kid better they wouldn’t have to. Of course, if it wasn’t their fault in the accident then the parents wouldn’t be liable

I have personally been in a car accident. When I was driving back home from my local In and out, I lost control of my vehicle. I was going onto the highway with medium traffic. I was speeding up to get a chance to get on the highway, but I wasn’t paying attention. The cars in front of me were breaking hard. I came close to them quickly even tho I slammed on my breaks, I was still going to hit them. So with my brakes locked I quickly turned the wheel as I drifted across the left lane I swung the wheel back to the right and was drifting the other way now. By the time I wanted to correct the wheel again, it was too late my wheels were locked my car was horizontal to the lanes and I ended up hitting the barrier.

From my experience, I think if someone or someplace would’ve taught me that instead of slamming the brakes I should’ve just turned the wheel quickly. Instead of turning the wheel while my wheels were locked, I should’ve just let go of them and turned and then put the wheel back in its original position. I thankfully didn’t sustain any serious injuries except for a big lump on my head and i huge burn on my wrist caused by the airbag.

I’ve seen many of my friends driving irresponsibly by street racing or trying to pull stunts in their cars. I try to teach them my experience of an actual car accident and how thankfully I didn’t hit anyone else. I try to teach them some techniques and some tips for emergencies. For example, I’ve told them that when you break hard you should never try to turn your wheels it will cause you to oversteer as well as not drive so fast and to try to stay behind every car at least by a two car length in a 40 speed limit and at least 6 on the highway that is usually a 65 to 70 speed limit. That would give you enough time to break in case of an emergency.

What steps can I take to help people be better drivers? I can write an article on how many accidents can be prevented if it wasn’t for the nerves and the shock that make you panic as well as not let you react in time. I can first get in contact with a defensive driver instructor and ask for donations to set up classes with him teaching our young drivers how to be better and how to react better as drivers.

To make me a better driver it would be better for me to go over the DMV book again and also take practice tests that the DMV would provide me with. I can also take online defensive classes and have a private driving instructor teach me how to become a better driver. Also, teach me about more techniques I can use in case I have another emergency and need to react in a specific way.

There are many reasons why people need to learn safe protocol while driving. I think the safest way to make changes happen is to support our community with free or cheap defensive driving and get the parents of new drivers to teach their kids better.
