Safe driving
Driving is a need and privilege because it takes you from point A to point B in a short period of time. It saves your time and energy so you can use your precious time at your work and personal life. Safe driving is very important and so for that driving education is very important also. I have taken driver lessons myself. A driving school instructor teaches you the process on how to drive safe because they have proper tools and control on the car when they sit beside you. They help you to develop three most important skills such as judgement, vision and react to certain situations. They teach you driving within speed limit in freeways, local roads, school area, read the traffic signs and instructions. They teach you to wear seat belt in proper way even if you are seating in back seat. They also help you to maintain self-control, and patience if you miss your exit. It is very much advisable and recommended to enroll in driver school. If you cannot enroll in driver school then learn with experienced driver who can teach you proper driving skills.
The following steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths during driving. These include prevent consumption of illegal substance while driving and wearing seat belt in correct manner like not on your stomach but on your pelvis. The other important thing is to park properly to reduce hitting adjoining vehicle. Avoid cell phone usage while driving. This is very common nowadays with teen drivers. If you really have to talk on the cell phone, then park somewhere and then talk. Always check the road and weather conditions so that you are aware, and you can plan accordingly.
I had two friends who lost their precious lives when they died in a serious car accident.
One of my friends in middle school died because he did not wear seat belt. He was sitting next to his friend who was driving in desert. There were 2 other friends who were sitting behind. All of them were wearing proper seat belt. Their vehicle slid on sand and hit a boulder along the side of the road causing my friend to eject from his car due to not wearing seat belt. His head hit the rock causing serious injuries which killed him on the spot. The other three passengers did not sustain any injury at all because they were secured by seat belt.
One of my other friends who was really my friend from kindergarten was killed in a car crash few months ago. She and her other 4 friends were involved in a severe car crash when a 16-year-old male was driving under influence and hit a power pole causing the car to flip. My friend (17-yr) was killed instantly while other two were airlifted to Las Vegas hospital. The third teen (15-yr old) was also killed while being transported to local hospital. It was determined that cause of death was driving way beyond speed limit. They were driving at 120 mph on 40mph posted speed limit and the driver lost control of the car. The driver went into coma for 2 weeks. He is still recovering. One of them left the state and relocated.
The first and foremost is to understand and follow proper traffic rules and regulations. Accidents are mainly cause due to over speeding, sleepiness, driving under influence, driving in fog (poor vision) and ice, mechanical failures, and overtaking. We need presence of mind to learn from other mistakes. I would always drive within speed limit and make sure that I am well rested while driving. Always follow driving courtesy and respect for others during driving. This helps other drivers also. For example, when some is trying to merge into freeway then allow him to safely merge in to the travel lane. Always put your blinkers so that you can communicate with other drivers. Do not drink and drive and if you are drunk then have a designated driver with you. Do not try to pass another car just because you want to beat him.
There are more people who have died in one year as a result of driving, than the total number of soldiers who have died in war. Driving is more dangerous and deadly for any nation than being involved in combat, and highlights the serious consequences of being negligent on the road. In conclusion, I have read somewhere that reach home late but reach home safe.
