Drivers Safety

There are approximately 2,000 teenage drivers who pass away because they aren’t safe on the road. Drivers’ education is important because it can reduce that number. The way it can be reduced is because it has all the most updated road laws. It is mandatory for teenagers to take drivers safety but not all of them pay attention. There are ways they can change that such as making it mandatory to do it in person instead of online. Teenagers can get distracted easily when it’s online. The more attention teenagers give will change this number of deaths.

Some other steps that can be taken to help this problem is by losing the phone. Every teenager has their phone on them all the time they are distracted by social media while driving, or music. I guarantee that this is the biggest problem. Another step that can be taken is to have cops stop giving out as many warnings when people are speeding, they need to give out more tickets. Speeding is another big problem.

This April I experienced an accident. I rearended someone. It was a rough learning curve. I can remember it like it was yesterday. As soon as I hit the gentleman, I was the scariest I’ve ever been. When I got out of my vehicle my head hurt and my legs were shaking. I’ll never forget the gentleman I hit. I was lucky enough to hit someone who understood what I was going through because he did the same thing when he was younger. I wasn’t paying attention while I was driving ever since that day, I have been more aware of my surroundings sadly I had to learn the hard way when I wish it never happened. At the same time, I am grateful for what happened.

Some steps I can take to help others safety on the road is to tell people about my story and what happened to me. Telling people my perspective can change their own. I can do things around my community as well, such as doing small acts about phones or speeding. I need to be the person who can lead and be an example while I have other people in my vehicle I can be off my phone, pay attention to my surroundings, and follow the speed limit. That way people can see how my crash has changed me on the road.

If people were more aware of their surroundings the crashes per year would go down the phone isn’t the only problem, people being in a rush or people who have road rage cause crashes as well. People need to think of others while on the road. Another problem on the road is elderly people, my opinion is that people over the age of 80 should have to retake their driving test and drivers’ education because laws change frequently. The elderly people don’t understand that and drive really slowly which causes other people to get frustrated.

Drivers’ education needs to be taken more seriously now days. Going along with steps the community can take and the driver’s education will help keep the roads safer. Drivers’ education gives people more automobile knowledge , confidence, rules mastery, and it can correct bad habits. People should be mandatory for people to retake drivers’ education every ten years. That will help with our road safety because of the things you go over and learn during drivers’ education, it will benefit everyone for themselves and the whole community you’re apart off. That is another step people can take to save others’ lives and to keep them from getting injured.

In conclusion, there are over 2,000 teenagers who pass away from a driving accident. There are multiple steps we can take individually and as a whole to help protect us around us on the road. Taking phones away is a problem we could somehow change. In my crash I should have paid more attention to my surroundings and focused on those around me instead of myself. My story and other stories can help change our future drivers. Elderly people having to retake their drivers’ test can help change the way others feel on the road. It can take down a lot of people’s road rage. Adding on people having to do drivers education every ten years can help as well so we can be reminded it will benefit us in the long run. The United States should come together and focus on drivers safety more than we are right now, we could come together.
