Working together to make a difference on the road

If we all come together to make sure that everyone takes their time to truly learn about the dangers of driving and how to keep themselves and their passengers safe, then the people will all benefit, as there will be fewer reckless drivers on the road and fewer accidents. We can try to add a class or make sure that the driver is informed of all the major issues with reckless driving and how many times people have thought “it won’t happen to me” but yet ended up in the same situation.
My cousin also fell victim to the danger of thinking that it wouldn’t happen to him, as one day he was driving back home but it was raining and he wasn’t paying enough attention to the road so he, unfortunately, ended up losing control of the vehicle and flipped the car upside down. Thankfully, he was not injured at all, but the car was deemed totaled and he had to replace his phone. However, what if he was not that lucky? And my family dealt with what could have happened on that unfortunate night? I also have a brother who drove without caution and he ended up having six accidents in two years due to his negligence. He really was not aware of how you should drive properly and was always making excuses of how it was not his fault as he was too good of a driver for it to be on him. It took him all those six accidents to finally realize that he needs to be careful as any of those accidents could have been his last and he is extremely lucky.
It really can happen to any of us regardless of how long you have been driving or how good you are at it, it doesn’t matter as at any moment another car could cause you to lose control. What if you did not see a vehicle because you were driving too fast? Or worrying about how you can quickly pass another car? The point to make is that we are not invincible, we drive two-ton cars and we need to be extremely careful as driving is always a risk even though it may not seem like it. It is also just as important to not only be careful and mindful of your actions but you need to pay attention to the habits of the drivers around you as they could cause you to crash, which is why you need to give the road your full attention and make sure that there are distractions.
There are many ways we can all come together to ensure that the road and the drivers have a safer place and can confidently take to the road without having to worry about any other drivers that can potentially put them and their passengers in harm’s way. We as drivers can make sure that we do not pick up our phones throughout the entirety of the trip. There are many ways we can avoid having to look at our phones; connect our phones to the Bluetooth in the car to make sure that if we get a phone call we can answer it without having to look away from the road and this will help you with texts and you can have the car read the texts to you and type out your reply since you can speak the text. We all love to listen to music while we are driving but we also need to be sure that we do not keep looking at our phones trying to change to the perfect song while we are operating our vehicle so we need to make sure that is all finished before we get on the road. Another precaution we can take is that if we have passengers with us while we are driving, we need to make sure that we speak with them before the trip starts to ensure that they won’t distract us by trying to show us something on their phones or talking loudly taking our attention away from the road.

Another option to ensure safety on the road is to require more practice when it comes to younger drivers who have less experience and, therefore, are more likely to get in or cause an accident. So, I propose that we have more tests before you are approved to get your license so that you can be more prepared for what you may experience on the road. This can include having to deal with tight spaces when on the road or having to make a quick decision due to unforeseen circumstances, etc. All these things will better equip the driver to be ready for whatever comes their way. I also think it would be a good idea to require all drivers with a permit to attend an in-person drivers’ course where they are required to participate a certain number of hours before being able to receive their Driver’s License. We can also have more frequent required renewals for licenses and require drivers to pass a road test to ensure that the driver knows what they are doing and how to be safe while on the road. This can also apply to any drivers who have been in many accidents recently or drivers who may be older and have slower reaction times.

By ensuring that all drivers are properly trained and educated on the serious matter of driving, we can all ensure that the road is a safer place for everyone. This will mean that there will be fewer accidents and unfortunate nights for many families.
