Importance of Driving Safety

One small move or one wrong turn can cost someone’s life on the road. People don’t realize it, but having 100% safety awareness and being able to be cautious on the road is really important. Driver’s education has saved a lot of teengers from being unsafe drivers and it’s extremely important. The amount of deaths a year just because of driving is outrageous. There are plenty of ways for this to be avoided before people even start driving on roads. Making sure you are taking your permit tests and studying for the rules of the road can make a large difference. If you don;t, not having the right knowledge behind the wheel will instantly take away someone’s privilege to live. If you look at one wrong sign or one wrong turn, it will happen in an instant and there will be no preventing it. Another large issue with accidents on the road is texting and driving. One glance at your phone and you could be smashed into the back of someone else’s car. This immediately impacts you. That one text or call is not worth putting your life, let alone anyone else’s life in risk. To avoid this everyone can agree to keep their phones down while driving. They invented phone holders and screens built in to answer calls but even these can be distracting. Put your phone on DND while you drive to cut the risk of lives being taken away. One time I was driving on the freeway with my dad and I got an urge to look behind me. Immediately, the car behind us flipped and hit the median on the middle of the freeway. I watched all of the traffic start to back up and was more than grateful we didn’t leave the house any later than we did. A few seconds. A few seconds is all it would’ve taken for me to be hit and possibly not here today. Later I found out that this wreck was caused by the use of a phone, and swerving in another lane. This could have been avoided so easily without the glance of a phone. This person would have a second chance at life if that one call or text was ignored. I will never be 100% what they were really looking at on their phones, but I do know this could have been avoided. There are definitely a lot more things everyone can do to avoid accidents. Speeding has also caused more accidents than anyone knows. Arriving a few minutes early is really not worth it. Swerving in and out of lanes, cutting up in traffic and not thinking about other drivers on the road causes so many more issues than if you just obeyed the normal rules of the road. It is more worth it to not speed and be cautious and arrive where you need to be late, then the other way around. There are so many signs and warnings for the speed which are there for a reason. On sharp turns there are slow down signs, on freeways and smaller roads there are signs and as soon as these are avoided this is when accidents happen. Driving under the influence is also a really big problem. It will never be worth it to drive under the influence. Nowadays there are so many things like uber which can avoid so many issues. It takes one phone call to someone who is not drinking or smoking to pick you up, and I’m sure there’s at least one person who would rather pick you up then know your driving unsafely. A lot of people think that smoking marijuana does not count as driving under the influence, but it really does. A lot of people cannot function right after smoking and especially when it comes to driving it gets even worse. You will not be able to focus on the right things on the road as well as put so many people in danger. Driving drunk causes people to swerve, not pay attention, not be serious and not be caseous of the other drivers on the road. I am positive someone would not mind you crashing at their place after a party or something of the sort to avoid conflict as well. Everyone needs to make sure they have a set DD before making plans of going out to drink or smoke with your friends. This small choice of having someone reliable is huge and can really save a lot of people’s lives. There will always be one person who does not want to drink or offers to be in this position and it is important to watch them as well. If your DD says “just one drink” or “just one hit” they automatically become not your DD. You need to find someone else who can drive, even if they say they are fine or do not seem under the influence. All of these issues while driving can be avoided and if people really do think before they take action.
