Driving towards a Safe Future

I would like to clarify that I completed my driving test in 2 minutes, which means that I have knowledge and awareness on this topic and most importantly, I am interested in contributing to my society. For me, the importance of road education to reduce the number of driving deaths is that road education is essential to reduce the number of driving-related deaths because it prepares people to make responsible and safe decisions behind the wheel. It teaches us not only the traffic rules, but also practical skills such as defensive driving, identifying risks on the road and the importance of staying focused while driving. Many traffic-related deaths are preventable, and proper road education can prevent tragedies by making drivers aware of the dangers of speeding, cell phone use, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In addition, road education fosters a cultural change. Drivers who are aware of the risks and practice safe habits have a positive influence on their families and communities, promoting greater collective responsibility on the roads.

The measures that can be taken to reduce the number of driving-related deaths are based on 5. The first measure to reduce this problem is based on greater access to driver education, which is based on offering mandatory courses and advanced driving programs that address topics such as defensive driving and driving in adverse conditions. The second measure is based on awareness campaigns, which will be used to promote the use of seat belts, avoid distracted driving and the dangers of alcohol while driving, through the media and social networks. The third measure is based on improving infrastructure, which is based on ensuring that roads are well lit, with clear signs and technology with cameras to monitor speed. The fourth measure is based on technology in vehicles and could be used to implement advanced systems such as automatic braking and collision warning in all new vehicles and personally in my mother’s vehicle it has that safety system, which makes me feel very safe. The fifth measure is based on the strict application of traffic laws, in which more severe fines and rehabilitation programs will be used for repeat offenders.

Of course, I have, I have had the experience of being in a car accident and I have also seen friends drive without caution, and I have also seen family members drive irresponsibly. The first experience, which left a deep mark on me and made me aware of car caution, happened when I was a child, I was about eight years old and my mother, my sister and I were going to my cousin’s birthday party who was five years old at the time. My mother drove very responsibly and to be honest, I don’t know how it happened, but suddenly we were about to get to my grandmother’s house and another person hit us and I remember that feeling of fear that I felt at that moment. Thank God nothing happened to me or my family either, but from that moment on I became aware of why one should drive cautiously. For the next experience that marked me, was that a friend offered to take me home because we had finished playing tennis and that friend had recently gotten his license, which means he didn’t have much experience driving, I won’t say names for privacy reasons but that friend is very distracted when driving and it turns out that in a moment of carelessness they almost hit my friend, the worst thing of all is that it was a trailer that almost hit him, which means it would have been devastating but thank God nothing serious happened because my friend managed to brake, and since then I decided that my mom would always take me to all the places where I had to go. For the last situation, I also had a similar experience where I raised awareness and affirmed the importance of being responsible when driving, it all started when my cousin invited me to watch a basketball game and we went with my uncle and he always drives irresponsibly, I realized that it is not safe to go in a car with other people, even if it is your family, continuing with the story, as I already mentioned that my uncle drives very irresponsibly, he is used to driving at full speed to get to any place on time, which is very dangerous but still thank God nothing serious happened but in that type of situations I have lived in my life, that is why I decide and commit to contribute to society in a responsible manner and drive carefully so as not to cause any type of accident because of one thing I am sure and that is that my commitment to society is unbreakable. That experience taught me that even the briefest moments of carelessness can have devastating consequences, because since then I have become more aware of the importance of driving safety and encouraging others to take it seriously.

For me, the steps I can take to be a better driver and help others be safer on the road are based on five steps. The first step is based on avoiding distractions such as never using the phone while driving because I always keep my attention on the road and that is great advice that I could give to people. The second step is based on respecting traffic laws, because I always obey speed limits, wear a seat belt and always prioritize safety over speed, because as my grandmother always says, it is better to be late one minute than to lose your life in a second. The third tip is to promote road safety, because I talk to my friends and family about the importance of driving responsibly and the risks of reckless driving. The fourth piece of advice I give is to participate in road safety education programs, and I really like being able to attend workshops or courses to learn advanced driving techniques, which is very helpful to me as a driver. And the last step and piece of advice is to serve as an example, to drive safely, not only protects my life, but also inspires others to do the same. My goal is not only to be a safe driver, but also to contribute to a road culture that prioritizes the life of everyone on the road, and since I will be a lawyer, I am always committed to bringing positive changes to the country so that every citizen lives in peace, with transparency and freedom, but always with responsibility.
