Only a month after having neck surgery, my fiancé and I were in a terrifying vehicle accident. We were sitting at the red light and when it turned green my fiancé went. There was another car in front of is turning left onto a residential street. The other cars in front of us stopped so we all stopped. We heard a truck speeding up and screeching behind us. My fiancé turned to me and said, “oh no, baby!” When I looked at him, we got hit from behind so hard that we jerked back and forth in the truck. Both my fiancé’s truck and the person that hit us truck was damaged. Luckily, when the accident happened the police and ambulance saw it and helped me immediately. The crash was both frightening and painful, leading to an emergency room visit. I was in a panic, wondering if my surgery was ruined in the collision. After giving this situation some thought, it became clear how important it is to change to safer and better driving habits.

Self-awareness and ongoing education are essential for being a better and safer driver. Keeping up with the latest traffic regulations and driving techniques is one action I take. My abilities have been further refined by taking advanced driving classes, which have improved my ability to manage challenging situations. I discovered the value of defensive driving during driver education, which entails foreseeing risks and taking preventative action. By putting these ideas into practice, my daily driving has become safer.

Furthermore, encouraging peers to drive safely might have a beneficial knock-on impact. I frequently encourage friends and relatives to drive safely by sharing my knowledge and experiences with them. I seen a group called MADD which means Mom’s Against Drunk Driving, they have drunk drivers attend meetings so they can understand the effects if driving impaired.

I know from personal experience that avoiding activities like eating or texting while driving significantly lowers the chance of an accident. Drivers can increase their attention on the road by implementing and encouraging the usage of hands-free technologies. Overall road safety can be improved by encouraging others to follow suit.
