The Importance of Driver Safety

Why is important to be a safe and better driver? Well, being a better safer driver helps prevent car accidents and death. Some ways to reduce the number of deaths would be learning the importance of driver’s education and how it reduces the number of deaths caused by the driver, what steps can be taken to lessen the number of deaths related to driving, learning the experience of a car accident, and finally what steps can be taken to be a better and safer diver as well as helping others.

The importance of driver’s education (ed) in reducing the number of deaths as the result of a driver is extremely important. Drivers ed helps to teach new drivers or even older drivers how to drive in a safe manner. They help to educate on traffic laws and help prepare new drivers to one earn the privilege of driving by getting their license and two it helps the driver to learn the skills in handling many different driving situations. This reduces the number of deaths caused by a driver because the drivers now know how to handle situations when driving, know the traffic laws, etc.

Steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving is one take drivers’ education it really helps drivers especially new drivers. Another step is to know traffic laws and stick to them. Some of these laws being wearing your seatbelt depending on the state, not speeding, stop at stop signs and red lights, etc. Several precautionary steps can be taken to lessen the chance of death before you even start driving like adjusting your seat, fixing your mirrors, putting on your seatbelt, adjusting the temperature. These may sound like simple things you wouldn’t think would be a risk when driving but it is because it is a distraction to the driver if they are doing it themselves or if a passenger is messing with those things.

I had an experience a few years ago being in a car accident. My grandma and grandpa were taking my siblings and I on a vacation to South Carolina. In Virgina a driver side swiped the truck we were in. Thankfully it was my grandpa driving and he stayed calm. The driver hit a semi-truck after hitting us was driving on the cement barriers. Finally, the driver drove into the median of the highway and the car stopped. Nobody was injured except for possibly the driver who had caused the accident. My grandpa went to check on the driver and he had said the driver was passed out and he was probably passed out while the car was going out of control. Everyone was okay in the end and nobody had died. But the accident could have been worse than it was, and we are very grateful that it didn’t result in any bad injuries or death.

On the road to be a better and safer driver one can do many things to prevent their own and other deaths. One thing a driver can do is focus on the road, pay attention to what other drivers are doing so that even if they aren’t paying attention, you can help prevent a crash. Another thing one can do is be aware of their surrounding look out for deer, pedestrians, cyclists, etc. Looking out for these things will help you to know what is coming and will help you to know when to stop to prevent accidents. One can also make sure to check their mirrors and blind spots consistently so that they know what is going on not just in front of them but all around them. So doing these things along with staying sober when driving, not driving when drowsy, eliminating distractions such as being on the phone, wearing a seatbelt, etc. All these things along with many more are ways to be a better safer driver and doing these things will also help others to become safer on the road.

To recap, drivers’ education helps to reduce the number of deaths because it teaches drivers how to handle situations and teaches them the traffic laws. Steps that can be taken to help prevent deaths on the road are wearing your seatbelt, not speeding, following traffic laws, etc. Being in a car accident myself makes you grateful that you were not one of the many deaths related to drivers and cars. It really helps one understand the importance of driver safety. And lastly the steps that a driver can take to be a better and safer driver to themselves and others. Some steps include following traffic laws, being aware of surroundings, and focusing on the road. These things help to reduce and prevent the number of deaths caused by drivers.
