The Importance of Driver’s Education
If more people were to take driver’s education, they would have a much better understanding of what they should do on the road and the safety precautions that need to be taken while driving. Although they may be better educated, there are still chances of accidents and deaths occurring. Most times this is because the person behind the wheel does not have their full attention on the road. There are still distractions, such as being on their phone while driving and paying more attention to the person in the passenger seat, that take their attention away from the road and their surroundings. Speeding is also a huge issue that causes accidents and deaths, along with drinking and driving, eating while driving, driving too close to others, not being aware of their surroundings or even potential hazards, and not wearing their seatbelts. People are prone to forgetting that the other people on the road are human beings like them. They seem to forget that others on the road and even pedestrians have loved ones and friends that care about them and care for their safety. More people that are driving need to take their own lives into consideration as well. Other people’s lives are just as important as your own and most times people fail to acknowledge that or disregard it.
Deaths can be avoided by taking the time to take steps to not only provide safety for others, but for yourself as well. One of the most important steps that you can take is getting rid of any distractions while you are on the road. The most immense distraction that a lot of people struggle with is being on their phones. Most times people think it is not that big of a deal, but even if they are on their phones for even just a few seconds, anything could happen. Another thing that people could do to avoid accidents, and putting others in danger, is by staying within the speed limit and avoiding speeding at all costs. Not only does it keep you and others safe, but it can also help you avoid getting a ticket. Always paying attention to the road, and sharing the road responsibly, are two of the main things that need to happen. Many people disregard this, and it has caused many accidents and even caused deaths. Another way to keep people safe while you are on the road is by avoiding driving while you are drinking, or if you have taken any types of medication that makes you drowsy. Being drowsy while driving, can cause you to lose control of your vehicle. You could possibly end up in a ditch, even in another lane causing a possible collision with another vehicle. Therefore, if you avoid taking any medication or alcohol before driving, and allow someone else to drive for you, many accidents will be avoided.
I have seen my family, and my friends drive irresponsibly due to distractions, not putting their full focus on the road, or even going faster than they should be. If they are distracted, it is most of the time due to their phones. When it comes to going faster than they should be, often it is only by a small bit, but even that could have possibly caused an accident or could even cause them to lose control of the car. If they were ever on their phones, they were either searching up different songs to listen to, texting, or even calling while driving. Although they make sure they are still careful and are safe while they are driving, I feel they should get rid of the distractions and pay closer attention, since anything could happen even if they were still being careful on the road. This includes speeding. I feel it is important that they slow down to ensure no accidents can occur and to ensure that they do not lose control of the car while driving. Although I do my best to avoid distractions and to stay within the speed limit and to always pay attention, there will still be times when I am not doing everything I should be. I could always be more cautious while driving, especially since there will always be moments when others may not be paying attention to the road. They need to always wear their seatbelts and stay at a safe distance from the person in front of them. People need to realize that although they may think that they are taking proper precautions, they are still endangering themselves and others. There have been situations that I have been put in that could have ended badly. For instance, there was a time when I was driving down the road and someone had almost run the stop sign because they were not paying attention and instead were paying more attention to their phone. Thankfully they saw me just in time for them to stop.
