Driving
is a privilege and requires much responsibility. Sadly, there are
many injuries and deaths that come along with driving. There is a
process to get the responsibility to drive, a written test with the
rules of the road and a driving portion. Just like anything, practice
makes perfect. There needs to be a lot of practice because without
it, more and more accidents will happen. Drivers need to learn about
the rules of the road and need to know how to work with other drivers
to make the road a safe place for everyone. There is never a way to
100% stop every single accident that happens on the road. To lessen
the number of accidents, drivers can stop looking at their phone,
driving while intoxicated, running red lights, or getting distracted
by other people in the car. As technology increases, many people are
getting in accidents by the distraction of their phones, GPS, etc.
Everyone can get distracted while driving, but the main age group is
our teens/ young adults. They can help prevent driving accidents by
not getting distracted by their phones, music, or friends in the car.
Luckily, I have never been in a car accident and have never
experienced such a terrifying experience. I have been in cars who
have irresponsible drivers and I now know how horrifying and how it
can affect so many other people. There were some times where the
music was so loud it made the driver drive more recklessly as it
affected other drivers. If not the music, some drivers would get
distracted by a text message from a loved one and will take their
eyes off of the road. I used to not think it was a big deal to look
down for just a second but I now realized it can take one second to
cause deaths or injuries. After being in a car multiple times and
starting to look around, I noticed that there are a lot of little
things that people do that can cause many accidents. There is no
magical spell to automatically become a good driver. The best way to
become a better driver is learning the rules of the road and
respecting everything. Practice makes perfect.
