Drive Like Everyone In The Other Cars Is Your Loved Ones
Driving
is an incredibly common thing that most people over the age of
sixteen do almost every single day. Whether it is driving to work,
running simple errands, or even going to a friend’s house. Being in
a car or behind the wheel is something that people do every day and
probably don’t think much about it. I grew up in St. Louis Missouri
and got my driver’s license when I was sixteen years old. In
Missouri, it is not required to take drivers ed to get your driver’s
license like it is in Idaho where I currently live now. A good family
friend of mine is a driving instructor and she was telling me about
how driver’s
education is associated with a lower incidence of both crashes and
convictions – reducing crashes by 4.3% and convictions by nearly
40%. There are many different steps that can help prevent crashes and
it helps by starting with eliminating distracted driving since that
is a very big cause of accidents. At a younger age of 16, 17, and 18
teenagers are easily distracted so they need to make sure they keep
their attention focused on the road in front of them rather than
their phone. It also helps to make sure the passengers in your care
and being tame and not trying to distract you while you’re driving
since that can also cause a lot of problems. Unfortunately, we cannot
control how others drive around us, but we just need to make sure we
are being knowledgeable on the road and not being distracted drivers.
My best friend in the span of six months got into three different
accidents and the third was the worst. She was driving down a road
she takes almost every day but today the roads were extra slick
because of ice and her car caught that one nasty ice patch and
started sliding out. Her friend in the car thought it would be a good
idea to grab the wheel, but this ended up causing more harm than
good. The car slid out and hit a tree then rolled one time and they
were both hanging upside down. A group of her friends, including me,
drove over and we were all freaked out when we got there since we
don’t know if she was okay, we just knew that she had been in an
accident. They ended up being perfectly okay just a little shaken up,
I cannot say the same for the car though. My best friend who was
behind the wheel when the accident happened learned a lot through
this whole experience. I plan on making sure I limit all distractions
anytime I’m in the car whether I’m the driver or the passenger. I
will make sure I try my best to always be alert while in the car and
continue to pass this knowledge and tips onto my family and friends
so we can all be safer drivers.
