Prepared Drivers
Drivers ed is the needed instructions for all future drivers.
Today’s driver’s are preoccupied with cell phones and not realizing
that they are actually operating a very dangerous piece of equipment.
Today’s driver’s are worried about what is going on on Social Media
and are not aware of what most traffic signs means. Fundamentals and
instructions are needed for most things that we do, driving is no
different. Drivers ed gives a glimpse into what traffic
signs, traffic signals, highway signs, traveling distance, breaking,
proper hand alignment on the steering wheel, right of way and
pedestrian vehicle communication to name a few.
Safety on our
roadways should be a priority, i personally believe that violators of
texting and driving should be punished more along the lines of those
that drink and drive or drive while impaired. Distracted drivers are
just as much a problem today as impaired drivers. Technology
advancements with the use of hands free devices have helped and
should be more of an emphasis in the car industry in helping us have
safer roads. These distracted drivers need to be held accountable,
because everyone is not going to be lucky and come away with a fender
bender.
Fortunately i
have not personally been affected, though i read and seen many
stories of people losing their lives, limbs due to negligent
operation of a motor vehicle. Anyway you look at it things do need
to be in place to help this situation.
I hold myself
accountable, so once i get in the car i get myself situated before
pulling off. If my phone rings, i have it set to allow incoming
callers to know i am driving and will return their call or text once
i am free. I tend not to travel with many passengers, as to not be
distracted by what others are doing in the car and i also ask them to
keep it to a minimum other than a conversation, so i can stay focused
on the road. Lastly, i consider myself a defensive driver always
scanning the road and being aware of others who may be driving
recklessly. Giving others the right of way in those instances where
its a touch and go situation. Doing the little things on my end may
help out a bigger problem.
