Road Safety is Important

Every week we spend
hours in our car and on the road. During this time our minds can
wander to other things. It is important not to get distracted while
driving and to stay focused on being safe. There are many things that
can steal your attention from driving safely, from ringing cellphones
to outside construction. Turning off your phone and putting out of
your sight while on the road can help you avoid thinking about it and
using while driving.

Even if you drive
alertly saying “I drive safe, I’ll be fine”, you still don’t
have an excuse to not wear a seat belt. Just because you are driving
safely it doesn’t mean that those around you are keeping their
attention on the road. Your seat belt is what will save should some
hit you whether it was you or them who caused the accident.

To help prevent
future accidents and to make the roads safer for everyone, driving
courses should be made more accessible to everyone. Young drivers
like myself should take even more care to pay attention on the road
and learn about what it takes to be safe in the car.
