Throughout the years, transportation methods have continued to change, and in the current century cars are the most common mode of transportation people use. Cars are an essential matter for many citizens. Moreover, every year, many new drivers begin driving for the first time. Furthermore, the numbers of accidents increase due to a lack of responsibility by the drivers. In this way, drivers ed helps individuals how to drive safely. Drivers ed teachers drivers how they should handle different types of situations. It could also teach them how they should drive in various types of weather such as snow, or rain with low visibility. The education they receive helps them learn skills that avoid putting their lives or other drivers’ lives in danger.

Drivers ed allows people to be prepared for the reality they might face. Thus, drivers ed is an important program to reduce the number of deaths related to driving. People need to be aware of dangers while they are driving. It is important to remember that people need to drive for other’s safety and also for the safety of their own lives.

An accident that happened within my family was when my brother was driving when he got his driver’s license. He was an irresponsible driver because he was driving close to the car in front of him. In this accident, the car in front of him stopped suddenly and my brother hit it because he was too close. He was not following the laws for maintaining a safe distance between two cars. My brother had to go to the hospital for a checkup due to the impact of the collision. He did not have serious injuries from the collision, but he learned his lesson to keep his distance between vehicles in front of him.

The steps I can take to be a better and safer driver is to think about other people around me. I always remember to be alert to my surroundings. I always need to be at a safe distance from cars around me. I never forget to wear my seat belt and always make sure the passengers in my vehicle do the same. I can also give advice to new drivers. I can tell them about common mistakes new drivers make and how to be a defensive driver.
