Drivers Ed: Being Safer
The crash was heard and seen from a mile away. Traffic came to a screeching halt and people got out of their cars and ran out to help. Pedestrians walking down the street couldn’t help but stop and stare. The two cars that crashed in the middle of the intersection looked like a movie scene. The scene was disastrous. The sirens were as loud as could be. First responders were swarming the scene as it seemed like time had slowed down. All of this chaos and anguish was because of one reason: a distracted driver.
There are thousands of accidents happening every day and many could be prevented with more education and fewer distractions. By making drivers ed more accessible and more informative, people can make better decisions while out on the road. To lessen the number and accidents happening in America, people should minimize the number of distractions in the car, keep a cool head, and keep informed about traffic laws. While I haven’t personally experienced a car accident, I’ve personally seen people driving while distracted and making careless mistakes that fortunately did not result in an accident. Collectively as people who spend time on the road, we can all be more cautious while driving, attentive to the other drivers, and stay away from substances that prohibit you from driving safely.
