Getting behind the wheel is probably one of the most exciting moments in the teenage years as a human being. Especially getting that trophy in order to drive, your license. But how important is the education to get the license, and safety on the road.
Driving education is probably one of the most crucial things to do in order to be well trained to get behind the wheel, keep yourself safe and others safe. It is important, since you have to consider all the objects that you will possibly encounter on the road, especially things like signs, such as stop signs, yield signs and do not enter signs. Without the proper education, you will have the possibility of making one simple mistake, which that simple mistake could cause for the loss of your life. Take also how the traffic lights work, how they obtain 3 certain lights which are; Red- stop, Green- go, and the one that may confuse most if they are not well educated in driving, Yellow-yield. Yielding basically means go whenever you can but be cautious, which one without the education may confuse this as another way of saying go.
Some simple steps that can be taken in order to reduce the number of deaths related to driving are, be safe, be aware, stay alert, and be smart. When I say be safe, I mean doing acts like putting on your seatbelt, adjusting your mirrors correctly, and keeping your eyes on the road. When I say be aware, I mean being aware of your surroundings, say for example, you are backing out of a parking lot, when suddenly a car is coming by, you must be aware of your surroundings to see the car that is coming and stop. When I say stay alert, I mean to also watch for the bad drivers on the road, you are not the only one driving, so make sure that if you see reckless driving on the road to stay away and call the police. Finally, when I say be smart, I mean be smart with how you are driving and when you can go driving, say for example, it is pouring to the point where you can’t see out your windshield, it would be smart to not drive, or if ice is on the road, be smart and do not put yourself in danger by going out and driving.
I for sure have seen a friend driving recklessly, luckily he himself was safe, but ended up getting ticketed by a police officer. Him speeding was the cause, and speeding is an extremely common thing that I personally see being why so many people crash in my community.
I personally have already steps to be a better and safer driver on the road and help others. The steps include making sure I meet the requirements of when I can be driving, I tend to go out a lot with friends, but sometimes cutting it close to being out after 12, coming home around 11:30 or a little before. Another is being more aware of my surroundings when it comes to things like a stop sign or even like a construction work sign. And of course, making sure to always be safe, check my mirrors and keep up with safety guidelines. I plan to help others by simply giving others advice on how to be safer, maybe even drive with them in the car to be more of help. I also plan on making sure if the person is able to drive, for example if they had any type of alcoholic beverage, or if they are tired. I would love to make an impact on making sure driving is safer.
