The importance of driver education in reducing the number deaths as a result of driving is to in fact acknowledge and scare people. Yes, scare people. If fear and reality go through people’s minds about the numbers of accidents/deaths, there is a good chance they will always keep their guard up and be cautious while driving. There are a few steps that can be done to help reduce of number of deaths related to driving. One being driving responsibly; going the speed limit, signal usage, following signs, seat belts etc. Another step that can be done is driving sober, there are a depressing and an outrageous amount of accidents per day due to unsober drivers. For example, drunk driving can negatively affect you and others. Rather than going behind the wheel when intoxicated, high etc. there are plenty of other ways to go about this situation such as uber, calling a family member/friend, bus and many other ways. Thankfully I have not experienced of being in a car accident but sadly I have experienced one time where a friend has driven irresponsibly. Rather than doing nothing about it, I reacted in a responsible and serious way. My friend was about to text someone while driving. But instead of letting it happen, I offered to hold their phone while so they can send an audio message in that way, they can have both hands on the wheel and eyes on the road and I also offered to send the message for them. After my offering I had a serious talk with my friend going into detail about how dangerous texting and driving is. I really put perspective when having this conversation with my friend, I made clear how serious, scary, life risking this situation really is. Due to my conversation with my friend I am glad to say they have never touched their phone while driving again. Steps that I as well as others can take to become a better and safer driver is to constantly remind yourself and others about what we have learned in driver’s education class, articles, news stories, etc. and put perspective on it. This will definitely help because it allows people to really understand that accidents happen way to often and can happen at any time to anyone.
