Three Steps to Saving Lives
Are you willing to save lives? In 2018, the CDC reported that around 3,700 people a day die due to automobile accidents. As devastating as these numbers are, we can change them by research, responsibility, and resolution.
The first step you can take to save lives is to research how to drive safely. Driver Education plays an important role in this step. The rules of the road are difficult to master, so it is essential to understand them before driving. Receiving a license or permit before you sit behind the wheel is vital for the security of yourself and those around you. Individuals are required to pass a permit test, driving test, and often a driver safety class before acquiring a license. Without these precautions being mandated, many people would either not know how to exercise caution, or simply disregard it. This would increase car accidents. Partaking in activities that stimulate your mind to contemplate caution is something you can do to ensure you know how to drive safely. Comprehending the laws, dangers, and operation of driving is necessary to create a safer atmosphere on the roads. Uneducated drivers threaten innocent lives.
The second step you can take to save lives is to drive responsibly. Driving with responsibility includes clearing distractions, being aware, and abiding by the laws. Clearing distractions is an effective way to improve your focus. Phones divert our attention from the road when we hear or see notifications. Putting our phones on silent and away from sight is helpful to subdue the temptation of using them. Adjusting the controls in your car also presents a distraction while driving. My mother once wrecked because she was distracted turning off the radio. We can avoid situations like this by fixing all our controls before we begin driving. Once we clear distractions, we are then better prepared to drive with awareness. Never depend on other vehicles, instead always be prepared for the worst-case scenario. Recently, my sister and brother-in-law wrecked due to a driver running a red light. My brother-in-law was aware and decelerated when he saw the automobile approaching. Thankfully, due to this action no lives were lost. Nevertheless, if the vehicle would have driven responsibly the wreck would have been prevented. Speeding, driving under the influence, and driving an unsafe automobile are all common illegal actions. Many lives have been stolen due to an individual ignoring the laws that were given to keep us safe. If we can rescue lives by simply turning off our phones, turning on our minds, and turning down some alcohol, what is stopping us?
In conclusion, the final step you can take to save lives is to drive with resolution. When we genuinely care about life, our actions reflect that. If you make driving safely a priority, it will encourage those around you to do the same. You can be an example. You can change your driving habits. You can drive responsibly. You can save lives. Will you do it?
