A Drivers Guide to Resurrection
Drivers are frequently found in accidents that may unfortunately lead to death and other negative circumstances. This may result to a negligence in obtaining proper education, as well as a failure to have compassion for individuals facing possible repercussion.
There is a large importance in driver education because the thorough increase in understanding will reduce the number of deaths as a result of driving. When individuals are careful to examine the full extent of understanding signs and why they are put in place, drivers may exhibit the appropriate behavior. For example, something as simple as waiting at a stop sign and looking at all possible directions for a certain number of seconds withholds the powerful difference between getting into an accident or not. Drivers must recognize any possible repercussion and do their best in protecting not only themselves, but the people around them. This starts with knowledge. Furthermore, there are many people that do not understand what their recklessness may be evoking in others. A driver who drives drunk all the time and survives accidents does not see the pain and suffering of the family whose life they toke. Therefore, more can be done in teaching one to have compassion and offer conscientiousness on the road.
Steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving is to make sure all individuals do their part in following the laws put in place for our safety. This includes for everyone in the vehicle to wear their seat belts, and for little to no distractions be placed in the car. An example of a distraction may include the phone. Typically, there are settings implemented within the device such as “Do not Disturb” or automated texts to let people who have messaged them know that they are currently driving. These are important features to be aware of for those easily distracted. Also, it should be more socially acceptable within jobs where there is a high population to withhold a policy that is not so strict on time. For example, my city is fairly populous and most people who get into speeding accidents say that it is because they were rushing to work or school. Our numbers compared to other countries where time and negative consequences to being late are not as heavy, are incredibly significant.
My best friends’ sister recently died in a car crash due the other driver’s negligence. I have witnessed firsthand how drastically this impacted my friend’s life and metal health; therefore, I am a large advocate for bringing justice towards those who have done others wrong through irresponsible driving. A few months later, my friend got into another accident because she was not careful to check if her tires were okay. Her father had warned her about driving long distances due to the state of her tires, however she was running late to a practice that was about 30 minutes away, therefore she was rushing. As a result, her tires gave out on the freeway. This withholds another large point, that we must not only rely on individuals, but pay attention to the state of our cars as well in order to maintain safety.
Steps I can take to be a better and safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road, is to follow the laws put in place and do my best to inform others when they are not doing the same. Although speaking up may initially be difficult, I understand that by doing so I can withhold the power to possibly save a life. And as most know, it is far more important to be safe rather than sorry. Furthermore, I can recognize moments when others and I are too intoxicated to get behind the wheel and have a designated driver readily available even if it may provide inconvenience. Ultimately, I will do my part to maintain the best possible environment for all involved.
