I have only been driving for about three years now. I got my license when I was sixteen and I have had a few close calls due to irresponsible drivers who do what they are not suppose to do especially when behind the wheel. In fact, when I was around the age of ten, I was with my younger brother and my dad heading to our grandparents and while we were pulling out of the side we were on, the next thing we knew is that we had gotten T-boned by another car. Thankfully no one was hurt but there was some damage to the two vehicles and our car was partially in a ditch but we got it out and everything was fine from then on. Until a few years later when we were leaving a gas station and we got rear ended by a person who has not been driving for a while and we all got out to check that everyone is okay and everyone was okay thankfully. There was no damage to either car so we all just went on with our day. The point is if they had taken or paid more attention to their instructors then they could have avoided the whole mess. It is important that we teach kids at a young age until they start driving this way they know how to drive and to avoid any accidents that may happen.
There are many different ways to reduce the number of accidents that happen yearly. The number one way to do that is the slow down. There is no need to rush everything including yours and everyone else’s lives. Sure, we may be a little late but you can fix that by leaving a little earlier. My work is ten to eleven minutes from where I live now, I could leave ten minutes before I have to work but, instead I chose to leave twenty minutes early so that I would be on time to work and I could my time getting there without having to worry so much about driving. I do enjoy driving because it is a privilege not a right but, that doesn’t mean I wish to die or to end someone else’s life. I actually found another way to prevent me and others out there from getting into an accident. I use the do not disturb function on my phone. It helps me stay away from texting and driving by blocking all notifications from apps and texts. It also sends out a message telling the person that is texting me that I am currently driving and that if it is important than they can just text urgent and it will go through to reveal what they have to say. That is one way besides using my turn signals and making sure that everyone is buckled up including myself before I move the car. So, keep driving but, do it safely.
