Focus on the Road, Not Your Phone

Focus on the road, not your phone

The main importance of driving in order to keep people safe, is to keep your eyes on the road. Don’t do anything while driving that you know may put lives in danger. I know many people nowadays with the new technology that all of these cars have, tend to focus on the screens. Notifications now show up right in front of them, or they can scroll through their playlists without having to go on their phone. To reduce the number of deaths, you can put your phone down and keep your eyes off the big screen. You should be able to go without your phone during the whole drive and if you can’t, then you shouldn’t be driving at all. If you want to listen to music, connect your phone before beginning to drive. If you don’t know where you are going and you need to connect the GPS, then do that before you get on the road. You don’t need to wait to do all of these things when you have the chance to before you are putting others in danger. There is no need for eating while driving. If you can’t wait to eat until you arrive at your destination, then park somewhere and eat. No food is more important than a person’s life. If you have a passenger in the car, use them to help you out. It’s easier to have someone tell you where you need to go rather than always having to look down at your screen. Having a second set of eyes is always better than just one. Even if you’re not the one driving, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you can not pay attention either. Sometimes the driver needs help and it makes driving easier for them. I have been in a car accident but it was not serious. I was in the passenger seat and one of my friends was driving. She is from a different state, so she wasn’t familiar with the area. Although we had the directions on, I still should’ve been paying attention. I was looking at my phone, forgetting to make sure she was going the right way, and she turned without being in the turning lane. The lanes were very small and it just looked like a place for cars to park on the side of the road. If only I was watching the road, I would have been able to make sure that we got hit. To reduce the number of deaths or risking any human life in general, I could be a better help if I am a passenger. I don’t need to be on my phone the whole time, or anytime at all. While driving, I can have my friends choose the music so I can stay focused on the road. Whoever is in the car can hold my phone for me so I am not worried about where I put it or who texted me. Making sure I get somewhere safe without hurting anyone, is way more important than making sure I text someone back while driving.
