When
I think about drinking and driving, I not only consider the effects,
but all that we as people are doing to prevent such events. I believe
that the dangers of drinking and driving is within everyone’s
control, therefore no individual should be driving while intoxicated.
I do not feel as though our youth are unaware of these causes,
however I do believe that’s a strong and visual approach will hit
home once we make it a reality. We as a community have to make it a
priority to not let any individual feel as though they are inevitable
to being involved in possible predicament whether that be the driver
or the victim.
To
choose to not drink and drive is to not only save your life, but to
protect the innocent lives in your surroundings. Driving is a
privilege and not a right. When getting behind the wheel you are
obligated to take on all the responsibilities of the road. Although
drinking is legal what is not it is to drive impaired. What many fail
to realize is the consumption amount that cause lack of judgment is
dependent on the individual and not an overall judgement. A 250 lbs
male alcohol consumption of two drinks will completely differentiate
from a 120 lbs lady who’s possibly max drinks before being impacted
is 3.
Being
that most drinking is due to a social event I find it to be
everyone’s responsibility to make a plan of action on how will they
return home safely. Especially when going out with a group of friends
I see it fit that they all go out to a location nearest to a friends
house that way transport such as Uber, lift, or even a sober friend
can drive back safely.

Taking
intoxicated drivers off the road is key to making the roads safer for
all drivers, pedestrians, and passengers on the road.
