Being a teen can be
one of the best and yet reckless times in a child’s life. Taking part
in the transition from boy to man, exploring the world for what it
really is may be one of the hardest challenges everyone faces at some
point in their lives. Becoming a teen has its advantages and
disadvantages. One of the many advantages of becoming a teen is the
accessibility to freedom itself along with having the ability to
drive and obtain a driver’s license. Because obtaining a driver’s
license is a huge part in a teens life, it also comes with a lot of
responsibility. Driving a vehicle isn’t always the easiest thing to
do, especially with the many laws put above our heads. However, being
a responsible driver isn’t hard at all. It is important to know how
to conduct a vehicle and what rules there are to follow. Following
such rules enables every driver to take precaution in every way
therefore sparing many lives. As a driver, it’s never just about you,
it’s about you and everyone around you.
There are many ways
an individual can reduce the number of deaths that occur from car
accidents alone. Around 1.25 million people in the U.S alone die each
year from car accidents. Many occur with drivers under the influence
whether it be alcohol or drugs. A number of accidents occur from
distractions such as texting while driving. If every person were to
take the laws that are put in each state seriously, there wouldn’t be
as many accidents as there are now. The experiences I’ve had when it
came to either being in a car crash or seeing one has really helped
me in the way I drive today. When I was younger, I remember a family
member was on her phone while on the road and it almost cost us our
life. Not giving their full attention to the road while going 70 mph
can lead to serious injuries. Luckily enough the brakes were applied
just on time and we swerved out of the way. Being in that situation
made me realize that no matter who sends you a text or how thirsty
you may be whether for alcohol or a regular glass of water, it may
cost you your life as well as someone else’s and it’s not a risk
anyone should be willing to take. As said before, everything has its
time and knowing when that time is and being responsible with what
you do can lead a successful driver and can save millions of lives.
