The Fate of Ignorance

The feeling of
despair engulfed all of my body, heart rate increasing, bewildered
over the news that was given to me. Haunted to what the many
possibilities could become, the unwarranted death that could have
happened. It was the most desperate I have ever felt in my life. My
father survived, miraculously with no serious injuries, we are truly
blessed. This tragic event happened because people driving
irresponsibly, as he was intoxicated during the said event. My
passion of teaching safe practices, the fear of losing someone I love
is a feeling I do not ever want to feel again.

As of now, 34,000
people a year die of car related incidents, and actions must take
place to reduce that number. The education of drivers needs to be of
focus. As the violations of the law are broken at every other corner,
causing thousands of deaths. This is evident as thousands of tickets
are given each day,”Millions of traffic tickets are issued each
year. In fact an average of 125,000 people in the U.S. receives a
traffic citation every day.” says Davis law firm. A lot of
americans are a threat while driving, increasing the chances of a
fate that nobody would like to have, a fate my father almost had one
day. Many have seen the destruction many have brought on, as the
apparent disregard for human life is a trait many people driving cars
possess. The intoxication while driving is a huge problem that needs
to be handled immediately. “In 2013, 9.9 million people (3.8% of
the population) reported driving under the influence of illicit
drugs.” madd.org explains. All of these people could have ruined or
ended someone's life.

With the re
education of the drivers, this will limit fatalities as we as a
society continue our use. I would teach the many of the repercussions
of reckless driving, I would preach of the many tragedies
irresponsible motorist commit. Reduction these fatalities is so
important, as every day we have to use a car more and more. We must
protect future generations to make sure they do not have to live
with the same problems.
