It
is important for people to take drivers ed so they can learn
to be safe, responsible drivers. There are several skills and rules
that are taught in drivers ed that I believe promotes
responsible drivers. These skills and rules may be obvious and can be
figured out by any driver, but I think that those who take drivers
education are more likely to use those skills and rules. Therefore,
making them safer and more responsible drivers. For example, I see
several people driving that do not use their turn signal. Turn
signals are to be used in two situations. The first situation is for
turning. It may seem obvious at times if you are turning right from
the far right lane or left from a left turn only lane. Regardless, it
is good practice to make using the turn signal a habit. The other
time that using the turn signal is required is when changing lanes.
Especially when traffic is tight. By using the turn signal, others
will know you want to move into the other lane. This skill is also
very handy when driving in an unfamiliar place. For instance, if you
are driving and the lane you are in ends or is going in a different
direction than you want, use the turn signal. By using the turn
single people will know you are going to move into a different lane.
So
many deaths and injuries related to driving could be avoided if
people would follow directions. A very important rule is to stay off
the phone when driving. If it is important to make or answer a text,
there are safe options to do so. (1) Have someone else in the car
read/send the text, (2) pull over, (3) talk to the phone, tell it to
send a text message to someone, then speak the message. Another
highly important rule is do not drink and drive. There are ways to
prevent doing this as well. (1) Have someone else drive (that is not
intoxicated), (2) walk home, (3) wait until you are sobered up (no
longer intoxicated).

I
have never been in a car accident myself though one of my aunts has.
The accident was caused by her diving too fast for the weather
conditions.
All
of these suggestions I have stated above are ways to become safe
drivers.
