Drivers education is a tool to educate people on how to drive cars safely to prevent the risks of crashes and injuries. Without drivers education, people will not understand how to perceive situations and how to act on problems to find the best outcomes. Drivers with this knowledge might be able to understand the importance of looking for possible dangers, not just in front of the car, but around it. Drivers education is here to cement the idea that you are not the only person on the road, telling you that you should be careful of others and think of possible ideas that they might do or not do. Life is unexpected, the point of driving lessons is to teach people to avoid situations that can lead to an accident.
There are multiple ways to reduce the likelihood of an accident when you are in the car. The first one is to scan your surroundings to spot possible dangers in your environment. The importance of this skill, in any situation, is to make people question their surroundings. For example, while a drivers is coming up to an intersection, they should look to see potential dangers or posted signs, such as signs, pedestrians, oncoming traffic, and cross traffic. Another step to reduce the number of accidents is to make sure the car is safe enough to drive. When in a car, most people do not realize the problems that their car might have. If someone’s car is unsafe to drive, they put themselves and others at risk. For example, if the tire is not put on correctly, or if it is an old, worn-out tire, it has a chance to break off or explode in the direction of traffic. Compromising the integrity of the improperly maintained vehicle and others. Finally, drivers education always enforces the idea that people should always maintain focus while driving. This can be from a distraction in or out of the car and/or being under the influence of drugs and alcohol. In Wisconsin alone, 3,372 people died under the influence of alcohol while driving, accounting for 36 percent of all driving fatalities in the state. There are multiple ways that someone could learn to be better on the road, and if they have a basic understanding of what they can do to prevent it, there will be fewer casualties on the road.
Throughout my life, I have seen many people get into accidents while in a motor vehicle, some of those accidents were their fault, and some were because of others. I am lucky these people survived these accidents and can live another day. The first story is from my grandma. One day, she was driving when she passed through an intersection when she had the right of way. A car raced from the right side of the intersection, racing through while their light was red. They eventually hit the front of my grandma’s car. Luckily no one was severely hurt in the accident and their car’s cabin was strong enough to withstand the damage. This accident came up because of the inattention of both parties because they did not realize the potential dangers when crossing the intersection.
Firstly, I wish to focus on other people around me so I can react accordingly to a situation. If I do not accomplish this task, I put myself and other people at risk. On the road, I scan for possible problems so I can act to avoid them. On the road, I look for problems such as objects on the side of the road and other cars surrounding me. Meaning that I look around for animals on the side of the road and act based on what they are or going to do. Also, I look all around the car to see where other vehicles are to predict their movements and following distance. Secondly, I try to understand the car’s features and how I can use them to ensure a safe drive. Like the last point, I use the mirrors to judge my surroundings around the car. Another thing that I believe should be used to help me when I drive is to periodically check the speedometer to make sure I am at the correct speed. As a novice drivers, I still have trouble maintaining the right speed for long periods and I still feel that it is necessary to glance down once in and while to make sure I know I am going the right speed.
In summary, drivers education is an important skill in this society. If someone operates a vehicle without the proper knowledge, they put themselves and others at risk. Although drivers education is really important, it only gives people the knowledge of preventing accidents because no one is perfect. I believe that drivers education is a necessary tool to function in places such as Wisconsin because a large part of the state’s infrastructure is based on motor vehicles. This is why drivers education is so important in my eyes.
