Distracted
driving is the leading cause of car accidents and vehicular
fatalities. By teaching drivers ed, people are able to better
understand their duties and responsibilities as a driver. This
includes teaching and learning the rules of the road and how to stay
safe while driving, which could ultimately decrease the number of
injuries and fatalities world wide. As a whole, drivers need to have
their undivided attention on the road. That means putting away phones
(and any other screens), having a calm environment in the car, and
eliminating any other possible distractions. As a passenger in many
different cars, I have seen not only my friends but my parents
practice irresponsible driving. I cannot count the times I have been
in a car where the driver is using their phone or being distracted in
another way. As a driver and passenger I can try to keep a calm
environment and try to decrease the number of distractions in the
car.
