In the Driver’s Seat

Being in the driver’s seat is the best feeling, but there is always danger. There’s the posibility of getting in a wreck, hitting a pedestrian, or even death. There are multiple questions you can ask yourself, but let’s start with a couple. What is the importance of driver education in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving? What steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths realated to driving? Have you ever had an experience of being in a car accident or have seen your friends or family driving irresponsibly? What steps can you take to be a better/safer driver, but also help others to become that as well? Very in depth, but let’s get into it.

First questions: What is the importance of driver education in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving? The importance is so drivers are prepared and know safety. People that don’t take the class or test to make sure they are good. They are the ones that cause accidents. Driver’s education gets you prepared on how other’s drive. You have to take it seriously or else you can cause an accident. Especially when teenagers see it as cool and fun. I’ve seen so many teenagers texting and driving. They think that it’s a game and that it won’t happen to them. I thought I wouldn’t ever be in an accident but I was. It was caused by a teenager on their phone. People don’t realize that driving can kill someone when you get into an accident. That’s why driver’s education is so important. It get’s you ready for real life things. Just like school prepares you for life and being used to being at a job almost.

Second question: What steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths realated to driving? The steps you can take are being prepared, the car is in good condition, and being safe. These 3 things go together. You have to be prepared by taking driving lessons. Car being in good condition like tires not being flat and gas in the car. Being safe is the most important. You don’t want to rush a turn and crash into another car. You shouldn’t drive and text/drink. A lot of accidents happen when you are drunk and on your phone. Being on your phone is the number 1 cause of accidents and deaths when driving. Driving is no joke, taking precautions and taking your time will help reduce the number of deaths by driving.

Third question: Have you ever had an experience of being in a car accident or have seen your friends or family driving irresponsibly? I have actually experienced both being in an accident, and family/friends driving irresponsibly. When I was about 6 months pregnant I was involved in a rear collision. It involved 3 cars including mine. I was at the very front and I almost hit the car infront me. They started to move and I decided not to since I saw the car coming. I didn’t want it to be a bigger wreck than it was. It was a teenager on his phone going 50 MPH down a ramp onto stopped traffic. All 3 cars were totaled. The next day I was having braxton hicks and had to call my doctor. The doctor said if they get worse to come in. I was worried that I was going to either lose my baby or have her way too early. It was the scariest thing I’ve been through.

Fourth question: What steps can you take to be a better/safer driver, but also help others to become that as well? The best step you can take is taking your time. Don’t let other drivers rush you into making turns or driving faster. That’s when the mistakes play their hand. I’ve seen many accidents happen because of people rushing and not waiting for enough space to turn. I use this step all the time. If I’m not sure if I can make a turn, I wait. Even when a car is honking at me I still wait. People rush instead of being patient and waiting. You don’t want to be the cause of an accident.

Per the statements listed above driving safely is something everyone should practice. Being safe and not rushing could be the difference between life or death. You could be one inch away from ripping someone away from their family. I’ve seen the devastation of getting in a car wreck and a family memeber dying. By driving safely and being responsible we can come together and lower the number of deaths caused by driving. Driving isn’t complicated unless we make it that way. That’s why I think taking driver’s education is important. Whether it’s in school or at a private driving school.
