Driver’s Education Scholarship eassy
Drivers Education has a large impact on safety as we know it in the driver’s seat. Drivers Education teaches America’s drivers how to be safe and how to properly operate a motor vehicle before they are even allowed to drive. Drivers Education helps to prevent death by teaching safety in a car and how to operate in many situations. I remember when taking my drivers education class we learned about the weather and what to do when we encounter such situations. Like for example I live in Wisconsin and we deal with snow as a hazard so we went through the proper steps for driving in icy conditions and with snow on the road. Another way we were taught about safety is what would happen with drunk driving. I remember one day our teacher brought out drunk goggles to simulate what it would be like to be intoxicated and made us realize the dangers of driving intoxicated. Drivers Education has the responsibility placed upon it to educate the next drivers in America. Drivers education must teach young drivers how to act responsibly on the road and that is why it is so important.
It is important to take steps to reduce the number of deaths while driving. An important step could be reducing speed limits on interstates and highways where it is very easy to exceed the speed limit and go dangerous speeds where the stopping time is greatly increased. Another step that should be taken would be to increase the focus on the road. A way to do this would potentially be harsher punishments for using phones while driving. Phones do a lot to distract drivers from the road and cause accidents and deaths. 3,000 people a year die of distracted driving. Increased punishments may cause people to put their phones down and take driving more seriously. Another step should be to encourage people to act responsibly while driving. I believe that if we continue to thank safe drivers and reward them there might be less traffic accidents and more attention to the road.
I have been in a few car accidents in my life, most of them when I was little. Once my mom got into a roll over accident due to highspeeds and swerving for a deer at the same time. This was irresponsible because she was driving fast with a child in the car. She should have taken extra precautions especially since it was the time of year when deer are more prevalent. Recently my dad was in an accident when another driver ran a stop sign. That driver didn’t only hit my dad but also another driver. That driver acted irresponsibly by not paying attention to the stop sign and not paying close attention to the road. I see my friends acting irresponsibly all the time. It seems that a few of my friends are always on their phones while driving. This has become a nasty habit for them and I continue to tell them to stop when I see it but it is hard to do so because they refuse to listen. Throughout all of these instances I have learned how to act responsibly while driving and the consequences of not following road laws and not focusing on the road.
The steps that I can take to be a better driver is to make sure my phone is away and not near me while driving. Also I can turn off my ringer so the sound will not distract me while driving. Next I can be sure to follow the speed limit and not go over because driving over the speed limit can cause lots of accidents and put my life at risk. I can be courteous to all drivers and make sure to keep cool in the driver’s seat. Doing this can prevent road rage and allow a safer driving experience for all. Keeping my seat belt on is another way to make sure I’m always safe and even if I get into an accident it will be safer than if I was without my seat belt. Also by not taking risks on the road. What I mean by that is by being certain when it is safe to pass other drivers on the road.
In conclusion, driver education is an important part of driver safety in America. They teach young drivers the importance of safety and how to be safe while driving. They are successfully able to teach students why safety is important and what might happen to them if they don’t practice safe driving.
