How Can Driver’s Ed Keep Us All Safe on the Road?

I think we all have seen some type of news story in our life that has said something like, “Two Killed in a Fatal Car Accident” or we have witnessed someone in our life die in a car accident. This is the reason why driver education is so important in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving. The more educated everyone is about driving the more it can help to reduce the number of deaths. We need to make sure that ourselves are educated as well as others around us because it creates a safer environment for everyone driving. If we are just throwing people with no education in driving on the road that is like hiring someone as a teacher who has no education in teaching. It doesn’t do us any good if we don’t have the education to teach us how to be safe on the roads.

To reduce the number of deaths that are related to driving we can make sure that driver education is a mandatory course and that everyone is required to take it. We can also make sure that there are always reminders about how we should be driving and what the safe way to drive is. I think another important step that we can take to reduce the number of deaths related to driving is to make sure that everyone is going through the proper courses that they need in order to know all the rules of the road. Another step to take is to build the confidence in new drivers that are learning to drive. If they are confident with their abilities to drive then less mistakes will be made while driving because they won’t be as nervous.

I am very fortunate to say that I have never had the experience of being in a car accident, but I have seen family and friends driving irresponsibly before. One of the many experiences that stands out to me is that my grandma has a hard time remembering to put her seatbelt on when she is driving. I have to remind her often that she needs to put it on and that it isn’t safe to drive without it. She grew up in times where seatbelts weren’t as big of a deal as they are now. Another experience is that I have seen friends who drive while texting on their cell phones and that is very irresponsible because they are not only putting their lives at risk, but they are also putting my life at risk. When you make the choice to drive irresponsibly you not only put your own life at risk, but you also put other driver’s lives at risk, as well as passengers in your car.

Some steps that I can take to be a better and safer driver are making sure that I put my phone down while driving, I am paying attention to the road, and I am driving only when I am completely focused on driving. If I am driving with other distractions that is not being a safe driver. Driving with distractions is like trying to work while you have a toddler running around. It just doesn’t work well. In order for me to be a safer driver I need to put distractions to the side and focus on driving. I can help others to become safer on the road by reminding them to drive safely if I see them driving irresponsibly. I can also make sure that I am not being a distraction to others while they are driving because that is also unsafe. I want to do my best to be a safe driver and I can do that by making sure I know the rules of the road.

Driver’s education is a vital tool that can help us all to make the roads a safer environment. Driver education provides new drivers with the knowledge and resources they need to keep them and everyone they drive with safe. The more people who take driver’s education, the more people will be safer while driving. Not only will it keep the driver safe, but it also makes it so they will keep others that they drive with safe too because they can also provide their information with others. Driving safely is a collective responsibility on everyone in order to make it so that the roads are safe while we all drive. Everyone plays a role in making it a safer environment. I don’t know about you, but I want a safe environment while driving because I don’t want to end up in a car accident. I think most of us would agree that we want to avoid being in a car accident and the best way to do that is to be informed of the rules.
