The Causes of Deaths Due to Driving

I just realized how dangerous small actions while driving can be. While on the road in the morning, I take a bite off my granola bar. Sometimes I drive with loud music. Other times I

change the disc when I’m tired of listening to the same songs. I’m extremely careful while performing these actions because I know one small error can cause an accident. While performing these actions, I honestly do get distracted. I sometimes get distracted by just remembering a memory. It’s hard to not get distracted on the road, but as drivers, we must try our best to not get distracted and avoid actions that involve both conscious and unconscious distractions.

The importance of driver education in reducing the number of deaths as a result of driving is to educate people on how to drive as safely as possible and keep everyone safe. Driving is all about being safe. Most or all of the accidents occur due to an error led by distraction whether it was from a mistake, drinking, eating, dancing, or daydreaming. Driver education is important in teaching the basics of driving. Teaching the basics leads to driving safely.

Usually the reason why people take increased risks such as talking, texting, listening to loud music, or doing their makeup on the road, isn’t because they want to be cool or because

they don’t have time. This has more to do with the psychology of humans. It’s a proven fact that people with depression are more likely to take risks while driving. Usually what I think causes me to take risks while driving such as eating, listening to loud music, or daydreaming is due to my stress. Stress is exactly like fat. The more we eat, the more fat. The more we worry, the more

stress. Stress builds up in the human brain which then causes more anxiety in humans and finally causes humans to take more risks while on the road. We must deal with stress, we must pay more attention to our mental health. This will lead to less number of deaths due to driving, and of

course, less accidents.

Prioritizing mental health as in teaching people how to take care of their mental health, teach them how to love themselves, and teach them how to love others, this is what we need to decrease deaths related to driving.

I’ve had several experiences of being in accidents. One I can remember clearly is when my mom, my brother, and myself were on the way to Target to buy our yearly school supplies. We were waiting at the light when suddenly a car hit us from the back. We pulled to the side and the guy driving the other car was drunk. I called 911 because he was drunk and we wanted him

to face the consequence of his mistakes. My mom was alert and hit the brake so she didn’t hit the car in front of us. This was all caused by one mistake. The other driver was drunk.

Everything has a prevention and a solution. Some actions I will actually practice to drive more safely will be to eat my granola bar before driving, change the disk when parked or before driving, listen to music at a lower volume to the point where I can listen to my surroundings, and to focus and breathe while driving. All of these improved actions will help me be a more safe driver.

I’m Roberto Zamora Brito Jr. I was born in San Diego, California in 2002. My parents

are immigrants from Guerrero, Mexico, and I come from a low income background. I’m also the first in my family to attend college. I’m a psychology major and I desire to become a psychologist to prioritize mental health by creating an organization that expands worldwide to

less fortunate communities to treat and educate communities. My organization’s main goal will

be to prioritize mental health, serve, treat, and educate less fortunate communities. By prioritizing mental health, we will educate people about the human brain and how to take care of their mental health. This will help people learn to love themselves by taking care of their mental health, love other people, and love their environment. This is what we need to make the world a friendlier and a more loving place. By prioritizing mental health, people will have less stress, depression, and anxiety, all of which will decrease the risks that distract people while driving.

This will lead to many more safe drivers and less accidents.

We must prioritize mental health as many problems come from the lack of treating mental health. Prioritizing mental health will decrease the risks people take while driving. This will help make the roads more safe for people. Prioritizing mental health is our best investment to reduce

the risky actions people take while driving. It is time to prioritize mental health so there can be many less dangerous distractions while driving and many less problems in the world.
