Driver’s Education a lifesaver on the road
Cars and driving as a whole are like a gun that object is controlling the lives of others if someone doesn’t know how to use it correctly. As I get older, I realize that driving is more and more of a necessity since I always need to be somewhere that isn’t a suitable walking distance, but what comes with that is the importance of learning to be safe on the road so I don’t get hurt and I don’t end up hurting someone else. On the road going down the highway to meet with some friends, I feel a rush that other drivers might also experience although at any second that rush can be cut short. The importance of realizing that and educating drivers is key when it comes to reducing deaths that could’ve been prevented. Drivers’ ed isn’t the only other way to lower the number of deaths either. Other ways that can help reduce car-related deaths are by not looking at phones or anything that could distract you from the road and driving strategically.
When I turned the age of 16, I was deeply invested in driving and cars so when I was legally able to get the opportunity to drive, I took it. Before I was even able to drive, I had to take Driver’s Education classes so I could be aware of the rules of the road, and that is the importance of Driver’s Education. The knowledge that I have gotten from the course allowed me to realize that if I don’t follow the rules I would add to the statistics. A driver’s education is the first and most important thing a driver needs to know when operating a vehicle but is often the one thing that average drivers miss out on. Driver’s Education is important because it is the foundation in which drivers’ new or old get to learn about the road so any space where multiple cars are in motion is safe with no accidents can be caused.
Without your eyes fully focused on the road there is a multitude of possibilities that can happen that can not only affect you. Being on your phone is one thing while driving, but combined that with texting and it’ll most likely end badly since over 1.6 million car crashes are concerning texting and driving, so when you put your phone down you are reducing that number while keeping you and other drivers/pedestrians safe. That leads to something bigger which is driving strategically and by that, I mean someone shouldn’t drive if they are under the influence or they are not in a condition mentally like a sleep-deprived. These simple things can add years to peoples’ lives and keeping the streets safe. People driving with little to no sleep is another major cause of car crashes and is something that should be taken into account if you ever want to drive.
I can personally attest to these being causes for many cars related deaths and reasons why need to reinforce driver education since I almost was in a car crash. I was with my father and we were driving back home from a family function and when we’re about to go an immerging car that exited from the highway speeded Infront without looking and without my dad’s quick senses we almost could’ve crashed. If the other driver was more aware of their surroundings and noticed us maybe this encounter wouldn’t have happened, but since it has it showed me that some people may need a refresher when it comes to driving. One big step that I and many other can take is just to be aware of not only your environment and how others drive but the rules of the road. If you are aware of others around you and the environment then you’ll know to understand when to merge when to speed etc. That awareness translates to how you drive and how you affect the flow of traffic which can lead to a safer driving experience. The awareness of knowing the rules of the road and having a refresher can help gain a better understanding of how the road should be driven now and in the future.
With all that information laid out driver’s ed and the knowing of it leads to less death because the information given allows drivers to become preventative of cautious things that can happen on the road. All in all general driver knowledge and awareness are two key components when it comes to making the roads safer and creating safer drivers.
