Cellphones and Driving do not mix

1.25
million people die in road crashes per year, on average 3,287 deaths
a day. Scary, huh? The importance of drivers ed is knowledge
and safety. When I first started driving I took a defensive driving
course and I am so happy that I did. I thought I knew it all until I
took the course. I found out that there was a lot I did not know
about defensive driving. It was eye opening and I feel every new
driver should take at least one class. Drivers ed
informs you about what is on the road these days. It teaches you
about what to look out for while driving. Without a driver’s
education. You are driving blind.

The
main prospects of deaths behind the wheel are alcohol, and cellular
devices. Every day, 28 people die in Car Crash due to drunk driving.
1
out of every 4
car
accidents

in the United States is
caused
by

texting and driving.
Isn’t that insane? We
need to do something about the usage of cell phones and alcohol while
driving. The problem is that most people know the possible
repercussions of driving under the influence or texting and driving,
but it still does not stop everybody from doing it. This is because
people feel they have enough experience where they can control these
situations and make sure accidents don’t happen. In reality, they
have no control over these situations. The only drivers will have
control over their actions while driving is if they drive safely and
save the alcohol and that text back for when they get their
destination. I always catch my friends to texting and driving and I
always try to tell to be careful when they are driving. I don’t
allow my friends to text and drive while I’m in the car with them.
But when I’m not with them, I don’t know truly if they are still
off of their phones when they are driving. It’s hard to think about
because I don’t know what I would do if I ever found out one of my
friends got in an accident because of distracted driving. I would be
devastated knowing I could not have been there for them to make sure
that they were driving safely.

Being cautious and
expecting the unexpected is a great start to trying to be safer on
the roads, but another way to be safe while driving is remembering
there are people out there that love you and care about. People who
would hate to see something happen to you. You risk your life every
time you text and drive and at the end of the day it shows that you
really aren’t thinking about anybody but yourself. So do yourself
and others a favor and put the cellphone down and put the alcohol
down when you ‘re behind the wheel. There are people out there
counting on you to stay alive.
