I
am glad it was temporary but what if it wasn’t?

My
drivers ed helped me realise that my surroundings are the top
priority when I am driving. Everything else can wait. I can park
easily on the side of the road or in a parking lot if I want to text
or apply makeup.

Everyone
should take driving classes because driving is not the only thing
that it teaches you. You learn the importance of you controlling the
vehicle at all time. Also, you become aware of the legal consequences
of drunk driving, texting and driving and speeding. I think that
everyone should take driving classes and that every driving classes
should include a sensibilization to the dangers of the road and how
you can be the danger.

During
my life, I have seen my friends and family drunk driving or driving
without a seat belt. Often, when I was a teenager, I saw my friends
driving recklessly. I was not feeling safe in their car and I wished
that I hadn’t come along. Unfortunately, for the persons that died in
a car accident, that was the last bad decision they made. We have all
been unaware, inconscient or uninformed of the dangers at a point in
our life. The road shouldn’t be a place that you feel unsafe. It is
the only to go to your everyday obligations, the only way to live
your life. Before we can take the road, we need to learn of all the
dangers and responsibility that it engages. It is not sufficient to
leave everyone with their “common sense”.

I
had a car accident very recently. I am glad that the injuries that
occurred to me were temporary. It was what we could call, a mild
incident, but the danger was not mild. I had a what we call a
whiplash and my life was not the same while I was recovering. I
couldn’t sleep well, neither could I do my normal everyday
activities. My pain was constant. That event really affected my life,
but I at least I have a life. It took me two months to recover. I am
glad it was temporary. Another place, another time, the same
negligence could have killed me. I am now scared of taking the road
because I realise not matter how good I drive; it is not a safe
place. Even when I have done everything in my power to be safe and
keep everyone safe, I am not.

We
need to skip driving when we do not have all our capacities to do so.
By capacities, What I mean is that even something if you had a fight
with someone and are full of rage, it doesn’t seem much, but it could
affect your driving. We should always take the time to calm down
because it could be the last time, we are angry. Plus, if the fatigue
is too much, we should make the mature decision of asking for a drive
or taking a taxi. When we see a drunk friend taking the wheel, our
friendship is not as important as saving the lives that could be
taken.
