Many people die
daily due to irresponsible driving. The only way to reduce the number
of deaths is through education of the people on the road. The more
people know the less likely they are to put themselves in dangerous
situations. The biggest steps we can take in reducing the number of
deaths due to driving would be to improve safety technology in cars,
educate people, and show people that it is okay to stand up and point
out if someone is doing something that is not okay. People must be
held accountable for their actions and not only by the police. If
someone is about to drive drunk, stop them. Say something. It can
save a life. I was in a bad car accident the day before Christmas
eve. I didn’t know that my airbags were defective so they did not
deploy and I got hit while waiting at a red light by an SUV that was
going 60mph. He was texting and driving. This could have been
prevented had he been educated on exactly how dangerous what he was
doing is. A step that I take is that when I receive a text from
someone behind the wheel I respond “DON’T TEXT AND DRIVE”. Or
when I am behind the wheel I do not touch my phone for any reason. If
my mom calls me I pull over and call her back. Nothing is worth the
danger that being distracted can cause.
