It’s More
Than Cell Phones
Thousands of people die due to car related accidents every year. The
problem is becoming an epidemic that seems to not be able to slow
down, but they only thing is, we can help with this problem. Of
course, the most pressing subject at hand is the cell phone use while
driving. We can decrease the amount of car related fatalities by
making drivers ed class mandatory and put laws on using cell phones
or other distractions while driving. We also can learn more about
being a better pedestrian in the community.
Drivers ed class is
important to really show everybody the clear-cut rules about driving.
It will put into perspective the consequences that will happen if you
do break the laws of driving. I believe everybody who gets their
license should go through a drivers ed class at least or even drive
with a certified driving instructor. These classes will make
everybody a little bit more conscious of what is going on around them
and predict what will happen.
I have seen friends
being affected first hand by a horrific car accident. The toll it
takes on a person last far after when the car is fixed. Injuries will
take time to heal, insurance will go up, and you will be upset. We
can make people in our community awake about this problem. We need to
start talking about it more, and not just look at another fatality
and remorse. This problem is on the people driving, nobody else. We
also need laws in government to restrict distractions while driving.
I say even if the music is too loud there should be consequences
because the driver is not fully engaged in the job at hand. As a
society, we need to tighten down on enforcing these ethical behaviors
to prevent any more fatalities that come our way.
Driving is a
necessity we need in our everyday lives. However, it is something we
need to have very great responsibility with. We see thousands of
people every year die from car related accidents, but nothing ever
gets done. I believe we should make drivers ed a requirement to get a
drivers license, and tighten up the laws and consequences of
distracted driving. We need to push our lawmakers to make these
decisions for us. As a society, we need to understand the
responsibility of driving, and take better care of what we have.
