This is Survival, Nothing Less

People often don’t
expect the tragedy and gruesome deaths from car accident stories
becoming a reality for them which is dangerous. Once a person doesn’t
fully take seriously the consequences of unsafe driving, they’ve
committed themselves to the element of luck and circumstance. Every
day boils down to survival and driving isn’t exempt from that
truth. A person always has a certain chance of survival per day due
to their circumstances or unexpected factors. It’s unfortunate that
even the most confident drivers can immediately end their life by
underestimating driving risk.

Drivers ed is
pivotal in minimizing driving casualties because it gives the initial
impression of the dangers of driving to upcoming drivers. For the
most part, people that haven’t learned how to drive can’t assess
small factors while driving because they don’t have experience.
Simply put, more education on the topic and more engaging ways of
informing students of the risks, like guest speakers, could reduce
the amount of accidents. People should also take precautions of their
own when driving. You reap what you sow and when people become too
relaxed about safety precautions, it costs lives and money. Not only
does it cause extreme grief for anyone affiliated to those in
accidents, it puts an unprecedented financial burden for families and
such. Always put on a seatbelt and create a habit out of it. Habits
aren’t unhealthy addictions. Some are encouraged because it
benefits your lifestyle and putting a seatbelt on before driving
quite literally benefits your lifestyle. Drivers should also keep
driving as their number one priority before distractions like phone
calls or friends because it’s easy to forget that driving can kill
people as well. Like I said before, once a person forgets the risk,
ignorance isn’t bliss. There’s not much instances where I’ve
been in an accident, however a select few of my family members are
pretty reckless on the road. They can make anyone grab on for dear
life. Whether it’s texting while driving or speeding and staying
very close to cars, it’s frightening to actively think about your
life while a passenger in a car. I’ve seen my step-uncle getting
into an accident due to a rear-end and the couple that rammed into my
step-uncle’s back was suspected of drugs or road rage. People
should take more responsibility for their driving and keep their
emotions mostly out of driving. Losing control of your own emotions
or losing control of your body by being intoxicated or high is a
highway to an accident.

To
become a better and safer driver, I have to take the time to improve
my own habits because driving is ultimately based off my own
judgement. It goes for everyone as well. The environment on the road
is determined by everyone’s own will to better themselves. It’s
essentially an impossible task, however it is the most ideal
situation if mostly everyone were to heed this tip.
